Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee our accounting operations in India. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the India accounting department, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all transactions, and providing insightful financial information to support strategic decision-making. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Global Finance Director and play a critical role in financial reporting, including collaborating with the financial planning and analysis team.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for finalizing accounts on a monthly basis to ensure all relevant ledgers are correct, and everything is in place in a timely manner to support the Global Finance Director in the production of monthly management accounts and monthly budgetary analysis. This role will work closely with the Global Finance Director to improve current financial processes and ensure all procedures become as efficient as possible. This will involve coaching and guiding one direct report on a day-to-day basis.

  • A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CIMA is essential
  • Relevant accounting experience, along with experience in a managerial role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles, procedures and regulations
  • Proficient with accounting software, ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Collaborative team player
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of accountability and leadership

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the India accounting department operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and tax compliance
  • Calculate revenue on a monthly basis in line with GAAP
  • Supervision of the purchase ledger
  • Reconciliations of company bank accounts and company credit card accounts
  • Maintain on a monthly basis accounting schedules including deferred revenue, fixed assets, prepayments and accruals
  • Oversee the monthly payroll process
  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Handle statutory submissions as required
  • Compile and process GST and TDS returns
  • Be knowledgeable in and be able to provide guidance in statutory tax compliance
  • Manage the month end and year end close process for India, ensuring timely completion and accuracy of all financial data
  • Manage the annual audit process for India
  • Lead, mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
  • Create and/or maintain up-to-date finance processes documentation
  • Be proactive in helping the team improve day to day accounting processes and tasks
  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall company goals and initiatives
  • Stay current with accounting regulations, industry trends, and best practices to ensure the Company's accounting practices remain compliant and effective
