Your Mission: The Role

You are a proactive, indispensable partner to Searce's leadership, expected to maintain a strong sense of professional integrity while managing end-to-end processes related to US and Canadian taxation and internal controls. This isn't just about tracking numbers; it's about being a creative visionary who can step back, see the big picture, and identify tax planning opportunities and internal control improvements.

As a Senior Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with complex tax regulations and delivering insightful findings to management. You will serve as a critical advisor by challenging the status quo and providing the financial clarity needed to navigate the competitive tech consulting landscape with speed and precision.

Major Roles & Responsibilities

1. Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare and file US and Canadian federal, state, and provincial tax returns
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns, including extensions and amendments.
  • Research and apply relevant tax laws and regulations to complex tax issues.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess the impact on the organization.

2. Tax Provision:

  • Calculate and analyze US and Canadian income tax provisions, including current and deferred tax liabilities.
  • Prepare detailed work papers to support tax provision calculations.
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.

3. Tax Planning:

  • Identify and implement tax-efficient strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Analyze the tax implications of business transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Advise on tax-effective structuring of transactions.

4. Tax Audits:

  • Respond to audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Prepare and provide documentation to support tax positions.
  • Represent the organization in tax audits and appeals.

5. Accounting:

  • Accounting tasks, such as journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Provide support to the finance team on tax-related matters.

Education & Experience

We value results, but we use these benchmarks to find the best talent in the field:

  • Degrees: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required. A Masters degree in Commerce or Finance is highly preferred.
  • Advanced Certifications: A CPA or CA designation is preferred. Other advantageous qualifications include CMA, MBA, or PGDBA in Finance.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of proven work experience in a similar role.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Proficiency in US and Canadian tax laws, tax automation tools, and forms such as 1120, 1065, 1040, GILTI, and Sales and Use tax returns.
