Accountant manages, analyzes, and reports an organization's financial data, ensuring accuracy, compliance with laws (GAAP), and supporting financial strategy by preparing statements, budgets, tax returns, and auditing, ultimately helping leadership make informed decisions. Core duties involve recording transactions, reconciling accounts, monitoring cash flow, preparing financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet), managing payroll, and analyzing financial trends to suggest cost savings and revenue enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).Data Management: Accurately record transactions, manage the general ledger, and maintain financial records.Compliance: Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and accounting principles (GAAP).Analysis & Strategy: Analyze financial data to identify risks, suggest cost reductions, improve profits, and support business decisions.Budgeting: Monitor budgets, forecast financial performance, and manage cash flow.Taxation: Compute taxes, prepare and file tax returns, and provide tax planning advice.Auditing: Conduct internal audits, reconcile bank statements, and resolve financial discrepancies.Payroll: Process payroll and related payments. Typical Tasks (Daily/Weekly/Monthly):Daily: Record transactions, reconcile accounts, monitor cash flow, process invoices.Weekly: Process payroll, review preliminary reports, check compliance.Monthly/Quarterly/Annually: Compile financial statements, review budgets, update tax records, prepare tax returns, conduct audits. Essential Skills:Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.Analytical and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency with accounting software and technology (including automation tools).Attention to detail and accuracy.Communication skills to explain findings to management.
