Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant with a strong background in freight forwarding or logistics. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling all finance and accounting activities, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting operations with timely and accurate financial reporting. Proficiency in Hindi and Tamil is preferred to communicate with Mumbai, Pune & Chennai office, clients and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain day-to-day accounting entries in Tally/ERP systems
- Handle accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments and customer invoicing
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts, and ledgers regularly
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, and other statutory requirements
- Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors during audits
- Support management with budget preparations, cost control, and financial forecasting
- Liaise with freight forwarding teams to validate billing and cost components
- Maintain proper documentation for shipments, invoices, and vendor contracts
- Communicate with Hindi-speaking clients and partners when required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, or related field (CA Inter preferred but not mandatory)
- 36 years of accounting experience, preferably in the freight forwarding/logistics sector
- Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, and Indian accounting standards
- Proficiency in accounting software. Preferablly Logisys or equivalent
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems
- Good communication skills in English; Hindi proficiency preferred
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with documentation and cost allocation in freight forwarding
- Understanding of international trade terms (Incoterms), shipments, and port charges
- Multilingual capabilities (English, Hindi, and Tamil)
