We are hiring an Accountant who can own core accounting cycles end to end, bring rigor to compliance, and produce clear MIS that leadership can act on to drive growth and cash discipline.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Lead, you will own Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, and statutory compliance across GST and TDS.
You will ensure:
- Accurate books under Indian GAAP
- Timely month-end closing
- Reliable MIS reporting for leadership
You will partner with operations and sales teams on billing, collections, and vendor payouts, coordinate with banks for payments and statements, and support external auditors during reviews or annual audits.
You will refine processes, templates, and controls to reduce errors, accelerate close cycles, and improve cash conversion.
Success in the role will be measured by:
- Clean reconciliations
- On-time statutory filings
- Minimal AR aging
- Clear visibility into P&L and cash
This is an on-site role based in Pune.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end Accounts Payable, using ERP systems and banking portals to ensure timely and accurate vendor payments while maintaining strong approvals and reliable cash forecasting.
- Lead Accounts Receivable, invoicing, and collections, using standardized billing packs and aging reviews to accelerate cash conversion, reduce DSO, and maintain clean revenue recognition aligned with Indian GAAP and contract terms.
- Maintain general ledger integrity and prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, delivering an accurate and auditable close with variance analysis for leadership decisions.
- Reconcile bank accounts, GST ledgers, vendor/customer balances, and intercompany accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly while maintaining audit-ready documentation.
- Manage GST, TDS, and other statutory compliances through GSTN and TRACES portals, ensuring accurate returns, timely payments, and reconciliations that minimize penalties.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external auditors, providing schedules, documentation, and explanations to support audits and reviews.
- Build and improve accounting SOPs, maker-checker controls, and document management practices to reduce errors and enable scalability as the company grows.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- Strong command of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, invoicing, credit control, and revenue recognition under Indian GAAP.
- Hands-on experience with GST, TDS, e-invoicing, and statutory return filings through GSTN and TRACES portals, including reconciliation with GSTR-2B and Form 26AS.
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (lookups, pivot tables) and accounting systems such as TallyPrime, Zoho Books, or QuickBooks.
- Strong reconciliation expertise across bank accounts, sub-ledgers, and statutory ledgers with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills to translate financial data into actionable insights and coordinate effectively with internal teams and vendors.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and documentation discipline to maintain audit-ready books and reliable financial records.
Additional Plus
- Experience in startups or SMEs, particularly implementing or improving close calendars, aging reviews, and financial controls.
- Exposure to process automation using Excel macros, Power Query, or simple scripts to streamline reconciliations and recurring journal entries.
- Familiarity with banking integrations, payment gateways, or vendor portals to improve payout efficiency and financial workflows.
