Job Description: Finance Assistant/Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

Perform bookkeeping activities using QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
●
Prepare and manage budgets primarily using Excel
●
Build and maintain complex Google Sheets models that are easy to follow and with clear and
consistent logic
●
Maintain organized record keeping and filing systems for financial documents
●
Handle day-to-day accounting tasks including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial
tracking
●
Support accounting practice development, including improving processes and workflows
●
Utilize Excel and Google Sheets for data analysis, reporting, and financial planning
●
Assist in preparing financial statements and reports as required
●
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
●
Prepare briefing notes ahead of financial review meetings to ensure leadership is briefed on
key figures, material variances, and required decisions.
Requirements:
●
Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar role
●
Strong proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and Google Sheets
●
Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
●
Experience in budgeting and financial planning
●
The ability to structure data and formulas so they are easily readable and auditable by
others.
●
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
●
Highly reliable and professional, a pro-active communicator
●
High attention to detail and accuracy
●
Excellent time management with a proven ability to manage multiple overlapping deadlines
independently
●
Takes full responsibility for their work from start to finish, incl. communicating capacity and
roadblocks ahead of deadlines
●
●
Optional: Familiarity with the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax
