As we continue to expand, we are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts & Finance professional who can independently manage our financial operations, strengthen reporting systems, and contribute to informed business decisions.

About the role:

We are seeking a skilled and self-driven Accounts & Finance Executive to take end-to-end ownership of our day-to-day accounting and financial management functions.

This role goes beyond traditional bookkeeping. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, managing receivables and payables, preparing financial reports, and supporting strategic business planning.

You will work directly with the founder, providing financial insights, supporting business projections, and contributing to investor-related financial documentation.

We are looking for someone who doesn't just maintain accounts but understands the numbers behind a growing business.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting & Financial Operations

• Independently manage daily accounting activities, bookkeeping, and financial transactions.
• Maintain accurate records of invoices, debit notes, credit notes, and journal entries.
• Perform bank reconciliations, ledger reconciliations, and account verification.
• Handle month-end closing activities and maintain organized financial records.
• Ensure accuracy, transparency, and consistency across accounting processes.

2. Taxation & Statutory Compliance

• Manage GST-related activities, including return preparation, reconciliations, and Input Tax Credit (ITC) tracking.
• Prepare TDS calculations, working statements, and relevant documentation.
• Coordinate with external Chartered Accountants and financial advisers for statutory filings and compliance requirements.
• Maintain appropriate documentation to support audits and regulatory requirements.

3. Accounts Receivable & Payable Management

• Monitor outstanding customer and distributor payments.
• Maintain receivables ageing reports and follow up on collections.
• Manage vendor payments, outstanding dues, and payment schedules.
• Track customer credit terms and distributor payment cycles.
• Support effective working-capital and cash-flow management.

4. E-commerce, Sales & Inventory Accounting

• Reconcile financial transactions across Shopify, Amazon, and other sales channels.
• Track payment gateway settlements, refunds, returns, and transaction discrepancies.
• Reconcile distributor billing and offline sales transactions.
• Coordinate inventory reconciliation and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculations.
• Support accurate channel-wise revenue and profitability tracking.

5. Financial Reporting & MIS

• Prepare monthly Profit & Loss statements, balance sheets, and cash-flow summaries.
• Develop and maintain Management Information System (MIS) reports and financial dashboards.
• Analyze sales performance, operating expenses, and profitability across business channels.
• Conduct variance analysis to identify financial trends and discrepancies.
• Present financial information clearly to support management decisions.

6. Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Finance

• Assist in annual and periodic budgeting activities.
• Prepare cash-flow forecasts and financial projections.
• Support product pricing, margin analysis, and unit economics calculations.
• Develop scenario-based financial models to evaluate business opportunities.
• Provide actionable financial insights to improve cost efficiency and profitability.

7. Investor Relations & Fundraising Support

• Work closely with the founder to prepare investor-ready financial information.
• Assist in creating financial projections, business-plan assumptions, and financial models.
• Prepare financial data and slides for investor presentations and pitch decks.
• Organize supporting financial documents for investor data rooms.
• Assist with financial due diligence and funding-related documentation.

8. Financial Controls & Process Improvement

• Establish and maintain effective accounting processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Implement financial reporting schedules and documentation practices.
• Identify potential financial discrepancies, operational inefficiencies, and compliance risks.
• Recommend improvements to financial controls and reporting workflows.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong practical knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial reporting.
• Working knowledge of GST, TDS, and applicable financial compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in Tally or equivalent accounting software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and data analysis.
• Ability to independently manage accounting responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Good understanding of receivables, payables, cash flow, and working-capital management.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to management.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with the following experience will have an added advantage:

• Accounting or finance experience in D2C, e-commerce, FMCG, consumer products, or distribution businesses.
• Experience handling marketplace settlements, payment gateways, and inventory accounting.
• Exposure to financial modeling, budgeting, and business projections.
• Experience preparing investor presentations, business plans, or fundraising-related financial documentation.
• Experience working independently in a startup or growing organization.
