Accounts Head – Interior Projects

Important Note

Only candidates with relevant experience in interior design, construction, fit-out, or real estate industries will be considered.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a seasoned and hands-on Accounts Head to take complete ownership of finance and accounting operations across our interior design and turnkey fit-out projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in project accounting, working capital management, vendor and contractor billing, and statutory compliance – with a minimum of 3–4 years of experience specifically within the interior design, construction, or real estate sector. This is a senior leadership role that requires direct collaboration with promoters, project teams, and procurement to ensure financial discipline across all active and concurrent project pipelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Financial Management

•      Manage complete accounting operations, books of accounts, and financial records

•      Prepare and present monthly P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports

•      Monitor project budgets, track variances, and enforce cost controls

•      Manage bank accounts, CC/OD credit lines, and liaise with banks for working capital facilities

•      Oversee cash flow forecasting across all active and upcoming project pipelines

2. Project Accounting & Cost Control

•      Maintain project-wise ledgers tracking expenses, billing milestones

•      Review and validate BOQs, cost estimates, and variation orders from a financial perspective

•      Ensure timely client billing based on project stage completion and contractual terms

•      Track retention money, advance payments, and recovery schedules for each project

•      Perform material procurement vs. site consumption vs. stock reconciliation

•      Verify subcontractor bills against actual work completion before processing payments

3. Payables & Receivables Management

•      Manage vendor payments, contractor bills, and purchase order reconciliations

•      Establish and monitor payment terms for material suppliers and sub-contractors

•      Drive client payment collections and maintain an ageing analysis for receivables

•      Maintain healthy cash flow across all concurrent projects without payment delays

4. Taxation & Statutory Compliance

•      Handle GST filings, TDS deductions, and timely deposit of dues

•      Coordinate internal and external audits and respond to audit queries

•      Maintain all statutory records and ensure regulatory filings are completed on time

5. Contract & Commercial Finance

•      Review LOIs, Work Orders, and subcontractor agreements from a financial and commercial risk perspective

•      Identify risks related to payment terms, penalty clauses, and retention conditions in contracts

•      Support management in pricing decisions and profitability analysis for new project bids

6. MIS & Management Reporting

•      Generate monthly MIS reports covering project-wise P&L, collections, outstanding, and cash position

•      Provide actionable insights for cost optimisation and margin improvement to management

•      Maintain dashboards for real-time financial visibility across all projects

7. Team & Cross-Functional Coordination

•      Supervise and mentor junior accounts staff; set performance benchmarks

•      Work closely with procurement, project managers, and site teams for billing and cost tracking

•      Directly report to and support promoters/directors with financial data for strategic decisions

•      Coordinate with site teams and conduct periodic visits for billing verification when required

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

Educational Qualification (Any One)

•      CA (Qualified) – Chartered Accountant

•      CMA (Final) – Cost & Management Accountant

•      MBA Finance from a recognised institution

•      CA Inter with 5+ years of relevant project accounting experience may be considered at management discretion

Experience Requirements

•      Total experience of 6–10 years in accounts and finance roles

•      Minimum 3–4 years in the interior design, fit-out, civil construction, or real estate industry

•      Prior experience working directly with promoters/directors in an SME or mid-size firm setup

PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE

•      Proven track record managing finances for multiple concurrent interior or construction projects

•      Strong vendor and subcontractor management skills with hands-on bill verification experience

•      Ability to work independently, take full ownership, and operate with minimal supervision

•      Experience in a turnkey or fit-out company handling residential, commercial, or hospitality interiors

•      Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively across project, procurement, and site teams

•      Immediate joiners will be preferred
