Job Title: PD Merchant – Accessories
Location: Gurugram, India
Experience Required: 4-5 Years
Role Overview:
Looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Product Development Merchant – Accessories to manage the end-to-end development of fashion accessories, with a focus on bags (leather and non-leather) and a variety of other fashion items. The ideal candidate will possess a strong design sensibility, technical know-how, and experience in working with buying/export houses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the complete product development lifecycle—from concept to final production—for fashion accessories.
- Develop seasonal collections including leather and non-leather bags, belts, wallets, and other related items.
- Collaborate with designers, clients, and vendors to ensure design ideas are translated into commercially viable products.
- Research and analyze current fashion and accessory trends to guide development direction.
- Source materials, trims, and components with a focus on quality, availability, and cost-efficiency.
- Oversee sampling processes, ensuring precision in construction and attention to detail.
- Work closely on product costing and pricing strategies, factoring in materials, labor, and overheads.
- Coordinate with vendors and factories to ensure adherence to quality standards and timelines.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, QA, and production teams for smooth execution.
Desired Profile:
- Graduate from a reputed design institute (NIFT, FDDI, Pearl, or equivalent).
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in product development with a specialization in accessories.
- Strong design sense with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
- Prior experience in a buying house or export house preferred.
- Hands-on experience with accessory construction techniques and material sourcing.
- In-depth knowledge of product costing and pricing structures.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
