Role Purpose

  • The SOACC Security Specialist is responsible for providing centralized, round‑the‑clock monitoring, analysis, and first‑level operational response for enterprise physical security systems across Cognizant's global locations. The role ensures the continuous availability, reliability, and compliance of Access Control Systems (ACS), CCTV, Video Management Systems (VMS), and supporting infrastructure through real‑time alarm monitoring, incident triage, access governance, and system health analysis.
  • The incumbent serves as a frontline command‑center operator, enabling rapid incident response, effective coordination with regional Physical Security Operations and Security Technology teams, and data‑driven reporting that supports risk reduction, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

Security Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Monitor enterprise ACS, CCTV, VMS, and related security platforms on a 24x7 basis to detect alarms, incidents, and system anomalies.
  • Perform first‑level triage and validation of security alarms and events, distinguishing false positives from genuine incidents.
  • Initiate and coordinate incident response with regional Physical Security Operations, Security Technology teams, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate incident logs, escalation records, and response documentation in accordance with defined SOPs.

Access Control & Badge Administration

  • Process and manage access badge requests, modifications, and deactivations through approved enterprise systems and workflows.
  • Ensure timely revocation of physical access for exited or role‑changed associates, including manual intervention where automation fails.
  • Conduct periodic access reviews and validations to ensure adherence to least‑privilege and policy requirements.

System Health & Device Monitoring

  • Continuously monitor the health, uptime, and connectivity of access controllers, cameras, servers (management/recording/communication), and storage devices.
  • Perform first‑level troubleshooting and coordinate corrective actions with Security Technology, IT, and vendors as required.
  • Track device status, failures, and restorations, and support preventive maintenance activities.

Compliance, Reporting & Analytics

  • Generate and publish operational dashboards and reports covering alarms, incidents, device health, access metrics, and compliance status.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing evidence, logs, reports, and system extracts as required.
  • Ensure system configurations (e.g., CCTV retention periods) align with approved legal, regulatory, and corporate policy requirements.

Operational Coordination & Continuous Improvement

  • Act as a centralized coordination point between SOACC, regional Physical Security teams, Security Technology & Strategy (ST&S), IT, and vendors.
  • Follow defined SOPs rigorously while identifying opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and operational discipline at all times.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Operational Effectiveness

  • Percentage of security alarms and incidents monitored and triaged within defined SLA timelines.
  • Mean Time to Acknowledge (MTTA) and Mean Time to Escalate (MTTE) for critical security events.
  • Accuracy rate in alarm validation (false positive vs. genuine incident identification).

System Reliability & Compliance

  • Uptime percentage of monitored ACS, CCTV, and VMS infrastructure.
  • Number of unresolved or repeat device failures beyond defined thresholds.
  • Compliance adherence rate for access deactivation, retention policies, and SOP execution.

Access Governance

  • Timeliness and accuracy of access badge provisioning and de‑provisioning.
  • Number of access review exceptions identified and resolved within SLA.

Reporting & Audit Readiness

  • Timely publication of daily/weekly/monthly operational dashboards and reports.
  • Audit observations related to SOACC operations (target: zero high‑risk findings attributable to command‑center operations).

Collaboration & Quality

  • Stakeholder satisfaction scores from regional Physical Security and Technology teams.
  • Adherence to documentation, logging, and handover standards during shift transitions.

Educational Qualifications

  • Familiarity with camera health monitoring, server status checks (management, recording, communication servers), storage monitoring, and device connectivity.

Security Operations & Incident Management

  • Experience in 24x7 security operations, command centers, SOC/SOACC/NOC‑like environments, or centralized operations teams.
  • Ability to perform first‑level triage, distinguish false positives from genuine incidents, and execute defined escalation protocols.
