Role Description The Academic Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based in the Pune District, responsible for guiding prospective and current learners through their academic and career journeys. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting one-on-one counseling sessions, understanding learners educational backgrounds and goals, and recommending suitable upGrad programs and learning pathways. The role involves supporting learners through admissions, onboarding, and program selection, as well as providing ongoing academic advising to help them stay engaged and successfully complete their courses. The Academic Counselor collaborates closely with faculty, mentors, and internal teams to ensure that learners receive accurate information, timely support, and a high-quality advisory experience. The position also includes maintaining detailed records of interactions, using CRM and reporting tools, and contributing feedback to improve counseling processes and learner outcomes.
Qualifications

  • Counseling expertise in areas such as Student Counseling and Career Counseling to support diverse learner needs.
  • Academic support capabilities, including Academic Advising and knowledge of Education systems and pathways.
  • Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written, to explain programs clearly and build trust with learners.
  • Relevant academic background, preferably a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in academic counseling, admissions, career services, or EdTech environments is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work with targets and deadlines, manage multiple learner cases, and use CRM or student information systems effectively.
  • High level of empathy, professionalism, and cultural awareness when interacting with learners from varied backgrounds.
