The Ab Initio Developer plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing ETL processes using the Ab Initio suite of tools. They are responsible for building and maintaining scalable and high-performance data solutions to meet the organization's business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into ETL processes using Ab Initio technologies
Design, develop, and implement ETL processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading
Optimize and tune ETL processes for efficient performance and scalability
Ensure the integrity and quality of the data being processed by implementing data validation and error handling techniques
Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting of ETL processes to identify and resolve issues
Work on performance tuning, debugging, and monitoring of ETL jobs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ETL processes with other systems and applications
Document ETL design, technical specifications, and implementation details
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance ETL solutions
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in ETL development and data warehousing
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Proven professional experience as an Ab Initio Developer or in a similar ETL developer role
Strong proficiency in Ab Initio suite of tools including Graphical Development Environment (GDE), Co>Operating System, and EME
Expertise in designing and implementing ETL solutions for large-scale data warehouses
Proficient in SQL for data manipulation and database querying
Experience working in Unix or Linux environments for scripting and automation
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices
Ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment
