Job Description
Designation: Associate Legal / Sr. Associate Legal
Qualification: LLB
Experience Required: 3-4+ Years (PQE)
Location: Bengaluru
Type: Work From Office (6 Day Working)
Role and responsibilities:
1. Contract Lifecycle Management:
a. Draft, review, and independently negotiate a broad spectrum of commercial
agreements, including but not limited to NDA, Customer Agreemetns, Master
Services Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), Vendor/Procurement
contracts & Service Provider Agreements.
b. Identify high-risk clauses in third-party contracts and propose creative, balanced
language that aligns with corporate risk tolerances.
c. Maintain fallback positions, negotiation playbooks, and contract templates.
d. Ensure contract hygiene, version control, and repository discipline.
2. Strategic Business Advisory & Risk Mitigation
a. Act as the dedicated frontline legal advisor to internal teams, including Sales,
Product, Marketing, HR, Procurement, and Operations.
b. Translate complex statutory requirements and case law into clear, actionable business
strategies.
c. Proactively identify legal, operational, and reputational risks across product
deployments.
d. Coordinate with and manage external legal counsel for highly specialized matters
ensuring deliverables remain on time.
e. Provide handson support on Shops & Establishment Act, labour law compliance,
POSH, and data protection norms.
Skills, Qualifications & Personality:
1. LLB with 3–4+ years PQE in a corporate/startup environment.
2. Strong experience in commercial contracting and crossfunctional legal advisory.
3. Solid understanding of statutory compliance, labour laws, and prelitigation processes.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. High attention to detail, strong analytical ability, and sound judgment.
6. Start-up experience and scaling up a start-up through the Series-A, Series-B funding efforts
preferred
7. Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and impeccable integrity
8. Candidate who are very well versed in dealing with,Legal cases and compliance.
Success in first 12 months:
1. Implement a Contract Management System (CMS): set up a structured repository, define
naming/versioning standards, migrate legacy contracts, and establish a disciplined
intaketoclosure workflow.
2. Drive Compliance Review Discipline: create a monthly/quarterly compliance checklist, ensure
timely statutory filings, and build a predictable review cadence with HR, Finance, and Operations.
3. Reduce Contract Turnaround Time by 30–40%: through clear playbooks, fallback positions,
and faster crossfunctional alignment.
4. Establish a RiskFlagging Framework: for Sales, Product, and Operations, ensuring early
identification of legal, operational, and reputational risks.
5. Independently negotiate 30–50 contracts/month: with minimal supervision while maintaining
high quality and consistency.
6. Strengthen PreLitigation Readiness: standardise notice responses, maintain a tracker, and
coordinate effectively with external counsel.
7. Achieve 100% audit and diligence readiness: by ensuring documentation hygiene, statutory
compliance, and process discipline across legal workflows.
8. Build strong working relationships: with Sales, Product, HR, Finance, Procurement, and
Operations, becoming their goto legal partner for fast, practical decisionmaking.
