Job-Role/Title: 3D Texturing Artist | Required Experience: 4-8 years
This role is about turning 3D models into visually stunning, optimized game-ready assets using advanced texturing workflows and tools. It demands both artistic flair and technical mastery. Seeking a seasoned Environment & Prop Texturing Artist with a proven track record in 3D and PBR Texturing, creating high-quality textures and UV maps for 3D models used in games, films, or simulations. Their work ensures that digital assets look realistic, visually appealing, and optimized for performance in real-time engines (like Unreal or Unity). This role bridges artistic creativity with technical precision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate concept art, references, and design briefs into final in-game assets.
- Ensure assets meet AAA visual quality and are optimized for real-time engines.
- Develop clean & efficient UV maps.
- Produce high-quality PBR textures with strong material definition and details.
- Follow proper naming conventions, pipelines, and technical guidelines.
- Work with engine integration, ensuring assets perform correctly in-game.
- Maintain consistency in style, scale, and quality across all assets.
- Manage time efficiently and meet production deadlines.
- Convert concept art and references into final textured assets.
- Create AAA-quality textures with realistic material definition.
- Develop efficient UV maps that minimize distortion and maximize texture space.
- Ensure assets are optimized for real-time engines (performance + visual fidelity).
- Maintain consistency in style, scale, and quality across all assets.
- Follow naming conventions, pipelines, and technical guidelines.
- Work closely with teams to integrate assets into the game engine.
- Iterate quickly based on feedback while meeting deadlines.
Core Requirements
- PBR Texturing & UV Unwrapping: Ability to create PBR (Physically Based Rendering) textures that mimic real-world materials, and unwrap 3D models into clean UV layouts for efficient texture application.
- Tool Expertise:
- Substance Painter & Designer, Industry-standard for texture creation.
- Photoshop, for fine-tuning and detailing.
- Maya / 3ds Max / Blender, for UV unwrapping and model preparation.
- Portfolio Expectations: must showcase examples of PBR textures, UV layouts, and texture breakdowns (albedo, roughness, metalness, normals).
- Optimization Knowledge: Must have an excellent understanding of compression methods to balance quality and performance, ensuring textures are lightweight but visually strong.
- Game Art Pipeline Awareness: Must have working knowledge of how assets move from concept art → modeling → texturing → engine integration.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience: 3–8 years in texturing for Immersive Services / Games / similar industries.
- Skills: Strong eye for detail, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
- Mindset: Balances creativity with technical discipline, adapts to feedback, and thrives in collaborative production environments.
