Job Description

Role Summary :

Eccentric is seeking an experienced 3D Manager to play a pivotal leadership role within our 3D organization.

This role will oversee multiple 3D Team Leads, ensuring seamless production delivery across projects while establishing strong process discipline, quality benchmarks, and performance standards. The 3D Manager will also be responsible for effective resource planning, team development, and driving operational excellence across the 3D pipeline.

We are seeking someone with a strong understanding of Automotive 3D workflows and hands-on experience in building real-time experiences, who can balance delivery timelines, technical complexity, and visual quality.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Team Leadership & People Management

  • Manage and mentor multiple 3D Team Leads, ensuring they are aligned on goals, quality expectations, and delivery timelines.
  • Drive a strong accountability culture by setting clear KPIs for Leads and ensuring performance tracking.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, coaching, and performance reviews for Team Leads.
  • Support Team Leads in handling team challenges, skill gaps, productivity concerns, and motivation issues.

2) Production Delivery & Execution Excellenc

  • Own delivery commitments across all 3D teams and ensure output is aligned with production schedules
  • Ensure efficient task allocation and workload balancing across the team
  • Identify delivery risks early (quality, bandwidth, dependencies) and proactively mitigate them
  • Act as the escalation point for Team Leads for blockers, delays, and quality concerns

3) Process, Workflow & Quality Governance

Implement and standardize workflows for

  • Modeling, texturing, optimization, and packaging.
  • Review cycles, QC processes, and approval pipeline
  • File naming conventions, version control, and asset organization.
  • Define and maintain quality benchmarks across projects.
  • Improve predictability by introducing reporting mechanisms, dashboards, and cadence reviews

4) Resource Planning & Capacity Management

Work with DGM 3D on

  • Ensure maximum utilization without burnout and optimize throughput

5) Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as
  • QA team
  • Integration / Tech team
  • Product / Delivery team
  • Ensure smooth handoffs and clear alignment on asset requirements, timelines, and quality expectations

6) Continuous Improvement & Capability Building

  • Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements

Train and upskill Team Leads on

  • better review practices
  • productivity methods
  • quality control systems
  • Keep track of industry trends and bring improvements relevant to Eccentric's pipeline

7) Tool Adoption & Internal Systems

  • Learn, understand, and actively work with Eccentric's proprietary 3D engine and internal tools to ensure effective adoption across teams
  • Act as a bridge between production teams and internal tech teams to ensure smooth usage

8) Project & Workflow Management Tools

  • Use and maintain project tracking and documentation through tools such as Jira, Gantt charts, and Confluence
  • Ensure task tracking, documentation, timelines, and dependencies are clearly defined and followed across teams

9) Vendor Management & Outsourcing Governance

  • Identify opportunities to outsource specific 3D production elements where required, ensuring quality and timeline adherence
  • Evaluate and onboard external vendors/freelancers in alignment with project requirements and internal quality benchmarks
  • Manage vendor costing, negotiations, and budget alignment in coordination with leadership
  • Ensure clear scope definition, deliverables, SLAs, and quality expectations are documented before project kick-off
  • Monitor vendor performance, timelines, and output quality, and take corrective action when needed
  • Optimize outsourcing strategy to balance cost efficiency, scalability, and delivery reliability
  • Assess internal team bandwidth and capability before initiating any outsourcing decisions, ensuring optimal utilization of in-house resources first

Requirements

  • 89 years of experience in 3D production environments.
  • 5+ years of experience managing Team Leads / supervising teams, with direct experience handling teams of 20+ people
  • Strong understanding of 3D production pipelines (modeling, texturing, optimization, delivery)

Proven capability in

  • managing delivery timelines

  • Experience in automotive / real-time 3D production pipelines.
  • Exposure to real-time asset constraints (optimization for performance)
  • Strong understanding of automotive components and vehicle systems, with the ability to interpret how car parts function and interact.
  • Genuine passion for vehicles and automotive design, reflected in both professional experience and personal interest.
  • Experience handling CAD data, including reviewing, preparing, and optimizing CAD files for downstream 3D and real-time workflows.

Must-Have Software Skills.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Blender for high-quality 3D modelling and asset creation
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop for texture creation, refinement, and visual support
  • Advanced experience with Substance Painter and/or Substance Designer for PBR material creation and optimization
  • Hands-on expertise in Unreal Engine or a similar real-time engine, with a solid understanding of real-time rendering, optimization, and interactive workflows
  • Clear understanding of difference between desktop and web-based 3D experiences, how resource budgets matter especially for web deliveries.

Good to Have

Familiarity with tools like

  • Maya for high-quality 3D modelling and asset creation.
  • Experience with GenAI tools and an open mind to adopting them.
