Job Description
About Stratoware
Stratoware Private Limited is a new flight simulation software startup based in Mumbai, India.
Since 2022, initially as a sole proprietorship, we've released 12+ products for the Microsoft Flight Simulator video game as a Microsoft Partner, sold 40,000+ units, and generated $150k+ in revenue. Our products are sold on PC and Xbox platforms through various distributors.
We're now scaling our commercial division that develops training simulators in Unreal Engine 5 for pilots, maintenance engineers and airport staff. We're a small team, and this is a foundational hire. If you're looking for startup environment and want to make impact, keep reading!
The Role
We're looking for a 3D artist with 3+ years of experience in Blender or 3ds Max and Substance Painter.
In your first year, you'll split your time between two things:
- Building hyper-realistic aircraft and environments for our consumer products, shipped to a global audience of aviation enthusiasts.
- Setting up the visual and technical foundation for our commercial simulators in Unreal Engine 5.
The consumer work is where you'll learn how flight simulation software is built. Over time, the commercial side will become your main focus.
What you'll do
- Model and texture aircraft cockpits and exteriors to realism, working from 3D scans, photos and technical manuals.
- Lay the foundation for our commercial flight simulators in UE5, focusing on visual pipelines. This includes materials, lighting, and asset optimisation.
- Design clean, readable UI for cockpit avionics displays and instructor operating stations. We're not asking for a polished UX designer.
- Work with OEM and industry partners to make sure our models match the real aircraft.
- Help hire and guide the art team as the commercial division grows.
What we're looking for
- Strong Blender or 3ds Max skills, plus Substance Painter.
- Working knowledge of Unreal Engine 5: materials, lighting and Blueprints (C++ is a big bonus!).
- A portfolio with good hard-surface work, focused on vehicles. Aircraft experience is a plus but not required.
- Basic Figma and advanced Photoshop skills.
- Some experience mentoring other artists or owning work end to end. A lead title isn't necessary.
- Based in Maharashtra or willing to relocate. The role is remote for now, but we plan to open an office in Mumbai within two years.
Aviation knowledge is NOT required. We'll teach you the physics of flight and the logic of cockpit systems. For this position, we care about technical mastery and design taste. If you love mechanical aesthetics and you want to know how things work, you'll fit in here.
Why Stratoware
- Even though we're a new company, we already have real products with revenue. We're not pre-revenue and we're not VC-burning. This is rare in India; most flight simulation startups don't have revenue.
- We're lined up for fund raising in 2027; huge growth coming up.
- You're a foundational hire in a small company. The visual language of every product we ship is in your hands. If you stick around, you'll have more responsibility down the line.
- A serious B2B trajectory. We already have an LOI with one of India's largest simulation providers to the armed forces. When we convert, you're working on the design for a national-security product.
- Atmanirbhar Bharat. Indigenous Indian flight simulation, built in India.
