As a 3D Artist you'll be responsible for creating 3D art and assets across a variety of projects.
Our ideal candidate is a versatile artist who has experience in 3D character and environment modeling. Be able to work with existing 3D assets, to composite, pose, light, render, and finish with a variety of art styles. Additionally, this candidate must thrive in a collaborative environment, adapt well to a constantly evolving industry, possess practical knowledge of 3D and digital design, and generally carry positive energy that benefits the greater team.
Responsibilities:
- Understand asset limitations, project milestones, risks and work accordingly
- Collect and become familiar with reference images
- Produce models according to the Art director's vision
- Create high quality, detailed character models and assets
- Provide proxy models for early game integration
- Create efficient and rig friendly, low polygon models for game integration
- Unwrap low polygon models and create high quality colour maps
- Create high poly models using sculpting (ZBrush) and generate normal maps
- Address critiques from the Lead Artist and Art Director and make revisions
Experience
- 5+ years of experience working on mobile game titles, AAA game titles, equivalent film projects, or equivalent.
- Experience in texturing, modeling and maintaining final assets.
- Experience in translating concepts to execution.
- Ability to deliver high-quality assets under tight timelines.
- Ability to execute quality output that meets both technical and design requirements.
- Strong fundamental 3D and design skills, including posing, lighting, composition and color theory.
- A strong ability to think in 2D and 3D.
- Ability to articulate creative ideas to peers and leadership.
- Be creative and bring a fresh perspective while working within the brand and project parameters.
- Capable of juggling multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, with excellent time management skills and a strong work ethic.
- Must be comfortable making changes to work based upon layered feedback.
- Expert skills with 3D modeling tools including Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Modo,Substance painter
- Detail-oriented and very organized is a MUST.
Education:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience; a Masters in Fine Arts is a plus.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of technical and traditional art processes and production pipelines
- Ability to work with different artistic styles and the ability to adapt quickly to the new styles
- Ability to create and communicate a clear artistic studio vision with Senior and Executive level leadership teams along with members of the Art Department
- Provide inspiration to art staff and facilitate training opportunities to develop all art disciplines
- Excellent decision-making capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
- Ability to balance deadlines and resources with style and quality requirements of a title's art direction
- Passion about games and game development a plus
