2D Animator

URGENT REQUIREMENT: We at Hamsagatha Foundation are looking for a freelance 2D Animator to collaborate with us on a science-driven, cinematic storytelling project.

We are working on a science-driven cinematic documentary, and need a 2D animator or animation director for the project.

Note that demonstrated experience in long-form story-based animation is essential, and so is immediate availability. The engagement will be on a project-only, contractual basis. Both individual freelance artists and animation studios are welcome.

What we are looking for:

- Strong 2D animation skills with the ability to create original art from scratch (no pre-made kits or assembled elements)

- A mature, flexible visual style suited for adult audiences but also accessible by children

- Excellent understanding of perspective, composition and scene depth

- Solid storyboarding skills (frame-to-frame visualisation and execution)

- Smooth, expressive motion (not necessarily photorealistic, but intentional and refined)

- Comfort with basic VFX within 2D animation (e.g., environmental effects like snow, wind etc)

- Openness to creative collaboration. We value creative freedom and co-creation

Good to have (not mandatory):

- Ability to create infographics and illustrations

What we're NOT looking for:

- Cartoonish, exaggerated or comedic visual styles

- Explainer video aesthetics such as flat, icon-like characters with minimal backgrounds

- Template-driven or stock-asset-based animation
