Location: Mumbai / In Office Role
Engagement Type: Fulltime-T&M
Experience: 5–8 years
Client Industry: Food Export / Manufacturing / FMCG
We are looking for a strong Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer / Power BI Lead who can work with a client team to build a modern data lake and reporting layer using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
This role requires someone who can own both sides of the analytics stack: setting up and managing the data lake/lakehouse layer in Microsoft Fabric, and building business-ready Power BI dashboards and reports on top of it.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build data lake/lakehouse structures using Microsoft Fabric, OneLake and Lakehouse/Warehouse components.
- Ingest data from multiple business systems such as ERP, Excel, SQL databases, CSV files, SharePoint or APIs.
- Build data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric Data Factory, Dataflows Gen2, Power Query and related tools.
- Clean, transform and model raw business data into curated datasets for reporting.
- Create fact and dimension models for sales, inventory, dispatch, purchase, production and finance reporting.
- Build Power BI semantic models, DAX measures and interactive dashboards.
- Work with business stakeholders across finance, sales, supply chain, operations and management teams to understand reporting requirements.
- Automate recurring MIS and management reports.
- Ensure data refresh, access control, row-level security and workspace governance.
- Support testing, validation and reconciliation of reports against source data.
- Document data flows, transformation logic, metrics and report definitions.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in Microsoft Power BI, DAX, Power Query and semantic modelling.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, OneLake, Data Factory Pipelines and/or Dataflows Gen2.
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation and modelling.
- Understanding of data lake, lakehouse, warehouse and medallion architecture concepts.
- Ability to convert raw operational data into clean reporting datasets.
- Experience working with ERP or business application data.
- Good understanding of sales, inventory, dispatch, purchase, production or finance reporting.
- Ability to interact directly with client stakeholders and convert business requirements into dashboards and data models.
Good to Have
- Experience with Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks or other modern data platforms.
- Python or PySpark experience.
- Exposure to manufacturing, FMCG, food processing, exports or supply chain analytics.
- Experience in building executive dashboards, MIS automation or operational control towers.
- Knowledge of Power BI deployment pipelines, workspace management and row-level security.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is not just a dashboard developer. We are looking for someone who can understand the data, structure the lakehouse, define the reporting model and then build meaningful Power BI reports for business users.
The person should be comfortable working in a client-facing role, handling ambiguity, asking the right questions and delivering practical business outcomes through data and analytics.
Engagement Context
This role is for a client-facing digital transformation and analytics engagement. The resource will work closely with the client's business and technology teams to create a scalable analytics foundation and automate business reporting using Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
Interested candidates can share their profiles with relevant Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and data engineering experience.
