Summary

We are seeking a skilled Build and Release Engineer with strong experience in build automation, release management, and REST API integration. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with modern build tools (npm, Node.js, Make, Maven), solid Linux/OS fundamentals, and scripting capabilities to streamline CI/CD pipelines and release processes.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor and maintain build infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
  • Troubleshoot build and deployment failures
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve build processes
  • Automate repetitive tasks using Python and shell scripts
  • Review and merge build configuration changes
  • Coordinate release activities and deployment windows
  • Document processes and maintain runbooks
  • Participate in on-call rotation for production support

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Core Responsibilities

  • Build & Release: Design and maintain automated build systems using npm, Maven, and Make. Manage versioning, branching strategies, and production release cycles.
  • CI/CD Pipeline: Build and optimize pipelines (Jenkins/Azure DevOps), integrating automated testing and quality gates.
  • API & Automation: Develop Python and Bash scripts to automate deployment workflows and integrate with third-party tools via REST APIs.
  • Infrastructure: Manage Linux-based build servers, troubleshoot environment issues, and optimize build performance/caching.

Technical Requirements

  • Build Tools: Expert knowledge of npm, Maven, and Makefiles.
  • Scripting: High proficiency in Python and Shell/Bash.
  • OS/Systems: Advanced Linux/Unix administration and command-line mastery.
  • Integrations: Practical experience with REST API methods, authentication, and JSON/XML.
  • Version Control: Expert-level Git (branching, merging, tagging).
  • CI/CD & Containers: Hands-on with Jenkins/Azure DevOps and Docker concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Container orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Experience with Jfrog/Artifactory and configuration management (Ansible).
  • Experience with Automated testing frameworks

Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Typical Experience

  • 8-15 years of experience in build and release engineering or DevOps roles

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
