Who we are looking for

This is not an edit what the brief says and hand it off role. You'll run video production like a well-oiled machine: you'll obsess over hooks, pacing, formats, and how fast you can go from idea to a live ad or a social media post.

This role is a hands-on editing role with a meaningful layer of creative strategy, testing, and performance thinking.

You'll thrive here if you:

•Have real editing chops: You're comfortable in Premiere Pro (and a bit of After Effects), and you know how to make something look and feel finished, fast

•Think in hooks, not intros: You know the first 3 seconds carry the whole video, and you can explain why a specific cut, line, or visual earns attention

•Move quickly without losing quality: You can turn around a high volume of variants — 100+ ad cuts a week — without every one becoming a slog

•Like experimenting with format: Testimonials, tier lists, listicles, faceless AI/lip-sync, personality pieces, simple statics — you'll propose new formats to try, not just execute the same template on repeat

•Care what happens after you hit export: You're willing to sit with the performance marketers, look at what worked and what didn't, and let that shape your next edit

•Are genuinely curious about why people stop scrolling: the psychology of a hook interests you as much as the after-effects trick that makes it pop

•Are easy to work with: low ego, happy to be told plainly what's working and what isn't, and comfortable saying the same back.

What we're building

Over the past two years we've grown our first product, Merlin from zero to 2 million users and raised over USD 8M in funding. Merlin helps people research, write and synthesize on the browser without you having to switch tabs or carry context across them.

We're building a best-in-class AI product that understands the full context of everything you say, hear, do, and uses that to help you make better decisions without getting overwhelmed by contrasting signals and nudges you to grow towards your life's aspirations: ones you really want to act on, but don't know how to.

Our always-on voice platform records every conversation: meetings, hallway chats, late-night brainstorms, etc and transforms those spoken insights into action items and reminders in the short-term, and nudges and motivation in the long-term. So it's not just a chatbox; it's a true intellectual partner to life.

What you'll do

Your responsibilities will include a mix of the following:

• Craft killer videos: Edit crisp, engaging, visually stunning footage for YouTube, Reels, and ads.

• Ship at volume: 100+ ad variants a week, refreshed every 3-4 days. Speed and quantity beat polish - a rough ad that wins beats a beautiful one that doesn't.

• Engineer hooks, not intros: First 3 seconds carry the ad - premise, escalate, product. Maintain a swipe file and have a POV on what works.

• Test formats aggressively: Testimonials, tier lists, listicles, faceless AI/lip-sync, personality creatives, statics, non-English variants. You propose, run, and kill the bets.

• Read the numbers yourself: CTR, CPC, CPM, CPI, checkout conversion, CAC. Sit in Meta Ads Manager daily and decide what to cut, iterate, or scale.

• Bring visuals to life: Motion graphics, animations, and effects that pop, while staying on-brand.

• Experiment with AI tools: Runway ML, Eleven Labs, DALL-E, MidJourney, and more, to push creative boundaries.

• Make ads unskippable: Short-form content for Reels, Shorts, and social campaigns that stop the scroll.

• Assist in studio setups: Camera handling, lighting, and recording sessions.

• Keep it sharp: Quality checks - color correction, sound design, final touches - on every edit.

• Collaborate & innovate: Brainstorm, storyboard, and conceptualize new ideas with the creative team.
