Position Summary

The Associate Medical Director role at Stem Health sits at the intersection of clinical practice and clinical leadership a role for a physician who is ready to contribute to something bigger than their own panel, and who wants to grow into a formal leadership identity without stepping away from the work they were trained to do.

Reporting to the Medical Director, you will support the clinical operations of Stem Health's physician team helping to translate governance standards into day-to-day practice, providing clinical oversight and peer support to physicians and allied health providers, and serving as a trusted second voice in quality assurance, case review, and clinical protocol development. You will also maintain your own member panel, practicing comprehensive primary care alongside your leadership responsibilities.

This is the right role for a physician with 3–7 years of post-residency experience who has developed strong clinical instincts and is now ready to apply them in a leadership context helping to shape the clinical culture of a next-generation primary care model from the inside.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical practice

Maintain an independent panel of Stem Health members, delivering comprehensive, longitudinal primary care with the same standard of excellence expected of all Stem Health physicians proactive, data-informed, relationship-based, and unhurried.
Conduct thorough medical assessments, develop individualized care plans, coordinate specialist referrals, and integrate allied health and diagnostic input into each member's Unified Health Story.
Contribute to Stem Health's executive and preventive health programming including comprehensive health assessments, cardiovascular risk, metabolic health, hormonal optimization, and longevity medicine.
Model the clinical approach and member experience that Stem Health is built to deliver, serving as a daily embodiment of the clinical standard.

Clinical quality and governance support

Support the Medical Director in implementing and maintaining clinical protocols, treatment guidelines, and quality assurance standards across the physician team.
Participate in the review of clinical outcomes data, safety indicators, and member experience metrics, contributing to the continuous improvement of Stem Health's clinical model.
Assist in the review of complex clinical cases and provide a second opinion or peer-level consultation to physician colleagues when requested.
Help identify clinical practice gaps, documentation inconsistencies, or quality concerns, and work with the Medical Director to address them constructively.

Physician team support and mentorship

Act as a day-to-day clinical resource for Stem Health's Associate Physicians and allied health providers available for case questions, peer consultation, and clinical problem-solving in real time.
Support the onboarding and orientation of new clinical team members, helping them understand and internalize Stem Health's clinical standards, documentation expectations, and care philosophy.
Contribute to continuing medical education, peer review processes, and clinical team debriefs under the direction of the Medical Director.
Foster a culture of clinical excellence, psychological safety, and continuous learning within the physician team.

Regulatory and compliance support

Support the Medical Director in ensuring all clinical activities comply with CPSO standards, Health Canada regulations, and applicable provincial healthcare legislation.
Assist with documentation audits, informed consent processes, and privacy compliance (PHIPA) as part of ongoing quality assurance.
Contribute to preparation for regulatory inspections or audits as required, supporting the Medical Director in the clinic's designated medical compliance function.

Clinical programme and protocol development

Collaborate with the Medical Director and clinical team to develop and refine clinical pathways, care protocols, and member-facing health programmes including preventive care frameworks, chronic disease management pathways, and executive health assessment protocols.
Contribute clinical input to the evaluation of new service offerings, technologies, or treatment modalities being considered for integration into the Stem Health model.
Help translate clinical evidence and best practice into practical, operationally sound protocols that the full clinical team can implement consistently.

Qualifications & Experience

Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized medical school.
Residency training in Family Medicine (CCFP) or Internal Medicine (FRCPC); CCFP is strongly preferred given the primary care scope of this role.
Full licensure in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
3–7 years of post-residency clinical experience in a primary care, family medicine, or general internal medicine setting, with evidence of clinical leadership interest or informal mentorship experience.
Genuine commitment to comprehensive primary care open to and energized by practicing longitudinal, relationship-based primary care as a core professional identity.
Experience in or exposure to executive health, concierge medicine, private practice, or health optimization medicine is a significant asset.
Demonstrated interest in clinical quality, patient safety, peer review, or medical education formal or informal leadership experience in these areas is an asset.
Clinical interest in preventive medicine, metabolic health, cardiovascular risk, hormonal health, or longevity medicine is well-matched to Stem Health's member population and care model.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills warm, credible, and able to build trusted relationships with both members and clinical colleagues.
Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems and comfort working within a digitally integrated, multidisciplinary clinical environment.
Current CMPA professional liability coverage.
