About the Company

Ethos People Advisory is a boutique people advisory firm focused on helping organizations build leadership, capability, and execution strength across key business functions. The company works closely with clients to translate hiring needs into practical, outcome-driven roles that support growth and long-term performance. In this context, the CTO role is designed for a business operating at the intersection of audio, visual, and immersive media, where technology leadership directly influences creative output, operational reliability, and innovation capacity. Ethos People Advisory is shaping a search that calls for a senior leader who can align technology decisions with business goals, protect critical assets, and enable modern media experiences. The environment is collaborative and fast-moving, with a strong need for judgment, cross-functional alignment, and disciplined execution. The role is important because the right leader will help define how technology supports both day-to-day performance and future-facing transformation.

About the Role

The CTO will own the technology direction for a creative media business and translate that direction into reliable systems, modern platforms, and innovation that improves business performance. The role is responsible for aligning technology roadmaps with production needs, supporting immersive media initiatives, and ensuring the infrastructure behind content creation and distribution remains secure, scalable, and fit for purpose. This leader will balance immediate operational requirements with longer-term experimentation in AR/VR, AI, spatial audio, and interactive formats. The position requires strong judgment, executive presence, and the ability to guide teams through complex delivery while maintaining standards for compliance, data security, and intellectual property protection. Success will come from building a technology function that enables creative output rather than constraining it.

Key Responsibilities

Own the technology roadmap across audio, video, AR/VR, and AI so the business can prioritize innovation while keeping production and platform decisions tied to commercial and creative outcomes.
Oversee IT systems, cloud infrastructure, and production workflows to improve reliability, reduce operational friction, and support consistent execution across content and media operations.
Lead R&D for immersive experiences such as VR, spatial audio, and interactive films so the company can convert new ideas into differentiated audience experiences.
Build, coach, and retain a high-performing technology team that can deliver complex programs, collaborate effectively with creative stakeholders, and operate with accountability.
Strengthen compliance, data security, and IP protection so the organization can scale safely while protecting content assets, systems, and sensitive information.
Partner with business and creative leaders to shape technology investments, improve decision-making, and ensure technical priorities support broader organizational goals.
Evaluate emerging tools, platforms, and standards to identify what should be adopted, piloted, or avoided based on impact, risk, and readiness.
Drive delivery discipline across large-scale technology initiatives so outcomes are measurable, timelines are realistic, and execution stays aligned to strategic intent.

Essential Skills & Technologies

Deep experience in technology leadership with the ability to set direction, make trade-offs, and align technical choices to business and creative outcomes in a media-driven environment.
Strong command of audio-visual production workflows, cloud infrastructure, and digital platforms, with enough depth to challenge assumptions and improve system design.
Practical understanding of immersive media technologies such as AR/VR, spatial audio, and interactive content, with the ability to assess where they add business value.
Experience leading secure, scalable systems that support production, distribution, and collaboration without creating unnecessary operational complexity.
Proven ability to deliver large-scale technology programs through clear governance, strong stakeholder management, and disciplined execution.
Familiarity with advanced sound tools, Adobe Suite, Unreal or Unity, and global media standards would strengthen the ability to support modern creative workflows.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to influence executives, align cross-functional teams, and explain technical decisions in business terms.
A track record of managing technology risk, protecting IP, and creating operating structures that keep innovation safe and sustainable.

Additional Plus

Background in film, music production, gaming, or interactive entertainment would help the leader move faster in a studio-led environment.
Exposure to Dolby Atmos, advanced sound systems, and distribution platforms would be valuable for shaping high-quality audience experiences.
Experience working across global media standards and content ecosystems would be a strong advantage in this role.

What You'll Bring

You bring the ability to connect technology strategy with creative and commercial priorities, ensuring the function is a growth enabler rather than a support layer.
You have led complex teams and programs with enough structure to create clarity, but enough flexibility to support fast-moving media work.
You are comfortable making decisions in environments where innovation, reliability, and security all matter at once.
You communicate with influence, earn trust across functions, and know how to turn technical complexity into practical business action.

Why Join Us

This is an opportunity to shape the technology direction of a business working at the intersection of creativity and innovation. You will influence how immersive media experiences are built, supported, and scaled, while helping the organization strengthen its systems, teams, and governance. The role offers a chance to work on meaningful technology decisions that affect both daily operations and long-term creative ambition. You will have room to define what modern media technology should look like in practice, from infrastructure and workflow design to experimentation with emerging formats. If you want to build a technology function that enables standout creative work and protects it at the same time, this role offers that mandate.

What We Offer

A leadership role with direct influence over technology strategy, infrastructure, and innovation in a creative media environment.
The chance to build systems and teams that support both operational reliability and future-facing immersive experiences.
Competitive compensation and the opportunity to shape meaningful outcomes across the business.
