Job Description

The Analyst – Plant & Machinery Valuation will support valuation assignments for industrial assets, including machinery, equipment, and infrastructure, across sectors such as manufacturing, power, infrastructure, oil & gas, and logistics. The role involves technical analysis, cost estimation, depreciation assessment, and report preparation in line with valuation standards (IVS / RICS / local guidelines).

Valuation Execution

Conduct valuations of:

Plant & machinery (manufacturing, process plants, heavy equipment)
Industrial assets and infrastructure

Apply appropriate valuation approaches:

Cost Approach (RCN/RCP – Replacement Cost New/Reproduction Cost)
Depreciated Replacement Cost (DRC)
Market Approach (where comparable data available)

Asset Inspection & Data Collection
Perform physical inspections of machinery and plants
Assess:

Age, condition, capacity utilization
Maintenance history and obsolescence (technical/economic)
Installation and operational status

Coordinate with plant engineers/management for technical inputs
Technical Analysis
Evaluate:

Useful life and remaining life of machinery
Technological obsolescence and efficiency levels

Understand process flows and production systems
Interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and layout plans
Costing & Depreciation
Estimate:

Replacement and reproduction cost
Import duties, freight, installation, and commissioning costs

Apply appropriate depreciation methodologies:

Physical deterioration
Functional obsolescence
Economic obsolescence

Market Research
Gather benchmark data on:

Equipment pricing
Secondary markets for machinery
Industry trends impacting asset values

Liaise with vendors, OEMs, and industry experts
Report Preparation
Prepare comprehensive P&M valuation reports, including:

Asset descriptions
Methodologies and assumptions
Valuation calculations and conclusions

Ensure compliance with:

IVS / RICS standards
Client and regulatory requirements

Client Interaction
Coordinate with clients for data collection and clarifications
Assist senior valuers in:

Presentations
Responding to audit queries
Delivering assignments within timelines

Compliance & Documentation
Maintain robust documentation and working papers
Ensure audit trails and defensibility of valuations
Adhere to internal quality control processes

Qualifications

Engineering background (Mechanical / Electrical preferred)

Additional Information

– Exposure to industrial asset valuation and machinery assessment
– Ability to carry out inspections, valuation analysis, and reporting
– Capable of handling assignments independently
