Position Overview

The Investment Banking Trainee will be an integral part of the Debt Syndication team, assisting in the execution of financial transactions and supporting advisory activities across the deal lifecycle. The role is designed to provide structured exposure to investment banking, corporate credit analysis, structured finance, and lender engagement processes. The trainee will work closely with senior team members and gain hands-on experience in financial structuring, credit evaluation, and transaction execution.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Support & Execution
Assist in end-to-end execution of debt syndication mandates including term loans, working capital facilities, structured finance, and project finance transactions
Support the preparation of transaction documentation, information memorandums, and pitch presentations
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate execution of deal deliverables
Financial Analysis & Credit Assessment
Analyze financial statements, cash flows, balance sheets, and profitability metrics of client companies
Assist in evaluating creditworthiness, debt servicing capability, and key financial risk indicators
Support preparation of financial models, ratio analysis, and credit notes for internal and lender review
Structuring & Market Research
Assist in designing appropriate capital structures aligned with client requirements and market conditions
Conduct research on industry trends, interest rate movements, and evolving debt market dynamics
Support evaluation of financing instruments including structured debt, refinancing, and working capital solutions
Lender Coordination & Deal Support
Assist in coordinating with banks, NBFCs, and financial institutions during proposal discussions and due diligence
Support documentation and follow-ups related to term sheets, sanction letters, and loan agreements
Track deal progress and maintain updated records of lender interactions
Reporting & MIS Management
Maintain accurate tracking of live deals, pipeline opportunities, and transaction status updates
Prepare periodic MIS reports for internal review and senior management reporting
Ensure proper documentation and record maintenance for all assigned transactions

Candidate Profile

MBA (Finance), CA Inter, CFA Level 1 (preferred from reputed institutions)
0–2 years of relevant experience; freshers with strong financial acumen are encouraged to apply
Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and basic credit concepts
Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling tools
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and structured thinking ability
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and client-focused environment

Learning & Development Exposure

The role offers comprehensive exposure to investment banking functions including debt structuring, credit appraisal, financial modeling, lender negotiations, and live transaction execution. The trainee will gain practical experience in real-time deal environments, enabling strong foundational growth in investment banking and corporate finance.

Career Progression Path
