Role Summary

The Lead Credit Underwriter will head the Credit team for the Non-FI segment and take ownership of end- to- end credit assessment for corporate NCD issuers. The role requires independent underwriting judgment,portfolio monitoring discipline, and strong engagement with internal stakeholders to ensure that investment decisions remain aligned with risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and portfolio quality Responsibilities :
Lead the underwriting and credit evaluation of corporate NCD issuers in the Non-FI segment, including assessment of business model, management quality, financial profile, cash flows, leverage, debt servicing ability, industry outlook, and available security package.
Approve or recommend credit proposals to the relevant internal committee with clear articulation of key risks, mitigants, structure, pricing considerations, and risk-return trade- offs.
Build, manage, and continuously enhance underwriting frameworks, scorecards, risk thresholds, and monitoring standards for corporate NCD investments.
Oversee post-investment monitoring of issuers, including review of financial performance, covenant compliance, external ratings, early warning signals, and market developments that may affect credit quality.
Drive portfolio reviews for the Non-FI book and recommend actions to minimize stress accounts, preserve capital, and improve portfolio resilience.
Work closely with business, investment, legal, operations, and product teams to ensure efficient execution of transactions without compromising underwriting discipline.
Support policy formulation and revision by incorporating market developments, regulatory changes, and portfolio learnings into internal credit standards.
Mentor and lead the Credit team for the Non-FI segment, improving analytical quality, review rigor, turnaround time, and decision consistency.
Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory and internal governance standards, including requirements issued by SEBI, RBI, and other relevant authorities where Profile :
The ideal candidate is a seasoned credit professional with deep experience in corporate credit underwriting. The candidate should be able to combine rigorous financial analysis with commercial judgment and should have the credibility to lead a specialist underwriting team interacting with senior internal and external and Qualifications :
Graduate in finance, commerce, economics, business, engineering, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification such as MBA, CA, CFA, or equivalent is preferred.
10 or more years of relevant experience in corporate credit risk, wholesale banking, structured credit, fixed-income underwriting, or institutional debt investing, with significant exposure to Non-FI issuers.
Demonstrated experience in assessing mid-market and large corporate borrowers across sectors, including transaction structuring and security evaluation.
Prior team leadership experience in a bank, NBFC, DCM platform, credit fund, rating agency, or fixed- income investment platform is strongly Skills :
Strong skills in financial statement analysis, cash flow assessment, ratio analysis, debt servicing evaluation, and stress testing.
Sound understanding of credit documentation, security structure, covenants, issuer monitoring, and rating- based risk assessment.
Ability to evaluate issuer-level and transaction-level risks in listed debt instruments and communicate recommendations with clarity and conviction.
Excellent stakeholder management, committee presentation, and written credit note drafting capability.
High standards of integrity, risk judgment, and regulatory awareness.
