Senior Scrum Master

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Scrum Master to support the delivery of a large-scale enterprise application enhancement initiative focused on Canadian Compensation and Payroll. This individual will serve as the servant leader for one or more Agile teams, ensuring efficient execution, proactive risk management, and strong collaboration between business stakeholders, developers, QA engineers, and technical leadership.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record leading enterprise Agile teams through complex software delivery initiatives and excels at coordinating cross-functional teams while maintaining a strong focus on quality, transparency, and predictable delivery.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate all Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Remove impediments that impact team productivity and delivery.
• Partner with Product Owners and Technical Leads to maintain a healthy, prioritized product backlog.
• Track sprint progress, team velocity, and delivery metrics.
• Identify delivery risks, dependencies, and resource constraints, and proactively develop mitigation plans.
• Coordinate work across development, QA, architecture, infrastructure, and business teams.
• Ensure user stories are properly refined, estimated, and ready for development.
• Foster continuous improvement through Agile best practices and team coaching.
• Provide regular project status updates to leadership and stakeholders.
• Support release planning, phased production deployments, and post-production hypercare activities.
• Promote collaboration, accountability, and transparent communication across distributed teams.

Required Experience

• 7+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master on enterprise software development projects.
• Demonstrated success leading Agile teams delivering Java, web, or cloud-based applications.
• Experience coordinating multiple workstreams and distributed development teams.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience managing project risks, dependencies, and cross-team coordination.
• Excellent verbal, written, and executive-level communication skills.
• Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM, or equivalent) preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting payroll, compensation, HRIS, financial, or other highly regulated business systems.
• Experience working with Java, Spring Boot, React, and cloud-based application teams.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
• Experience supporting phased production rollouts and hypercare.
• Experience working with offshore and distributed Agile teams.
