Job Description – Windows Server Administrator

Location: Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Windows Server Administrator to manage, maintain, and support enterprise Windows infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Windows Server administration, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and ITSM processes using ServiceNow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments, including Windows Server 2022, and 2025.
  • Perform installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows Server operating systems.
  • Plan and execute monthly operating system patching activities, ensuring compliance with maintenance windows and organizational policies.
  • Identify, analyze, and remediate operating system vulnerabilities in coordination with security teams, ensuring timely closure within defined SLAs.
  • Perform server health checks, performance tuning, and capacity monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot Windows Server issues related to Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, services, storage, networking, and authentication.
  • Manage Windows services, scheduled tasks, event logs, and system performance.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational runbooks.
  • Handle incidents, service requests, problem records, and change requests through ServiceNow, ensuring adherence to ITIL best practices.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, security, database, backup, and application teams during troubleshooting and planned maintenance activities.
  • Participate in on-call support and maintenance activities during non-business hours, as required.

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Windows Server 2022
  • Windows Server 2025
  • Hands-on experience with Windows patch management using tools such as WSUS, Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), or equivalent enterprise patching solutions.
  • Experience in vulnerability assessment and remediation using enterprise security tools (e.g., Tenable, Qualys, Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management).
  • Good understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows authentication mechanisms.
  • Experience with ServiceNow for Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Request Management.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation and administration.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V is preferred.
  • Understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Windows Server, Azure Administrator, or equivalent) are preferred.

ITIL Foundation certification is an advantage.
