About the Role
We are seeking a Video Game Annotator (Freelancer) to support advanced AI evaluation initiatives focused on video game content annotation, gameplay analysis, game mechanics evaluation, multimodal AI training, and game-related data labeling.
In this role, you will annotate and evaluate gameplay videos, screenshots, in-game events, player interactions, NPC behaviors, UI elements, and AI-generated gaming content. Your expertise will help improve AI systems designed for game understanding, computer vision, gameplay analysis, and interactive AI agents.
This position is ideal for professionals with experience in game testing, QA, game design, content moderation, AI data annotation, esports analysis, or avid gamers with strong analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- Create deliverables addressing real-world video game annotation and AI evaluation scenarios.
- Annotate and evaluate gameplay videos, screenshots, audio clips, text, and multimodal gaming datasets.
- Assess AI outputs for annotation accuracy, gameplay understanding, event detection, and adherence to project guidelines.
- Label game objects, characters, weapons, inventory items, maps, environments, animations, and visual assets according to annotation guidelines.
- Annotate gameplay events such as combat, movement, quests, achievements, player actions, interactions, objectives, and game states.
- Evaluate NPC behaviors, player decision-making, mission progression, dialogue interactions, and AI-controlled entities.
- Review in-game user interface (UI) elements including HUDs, menus, notifications, health bars, maps, and inventory systems.
- Identify annotation inconsistencies, gameplay errors, missing labels, quality issues, and guideline deviations.
- Provide structured feedback to improve AI models for game understanding, computer vision, reinforcement learning, and gameplay analytics.
- Review peer-developed annotations to maintain quality and consistency standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline. Degrees in Computer Science, Game Design, Digital Media, Animation, or related fields are preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in game testing, game QA, AI data annotation, content moderation, esports analysis, or related fields is preferred.
- Passion for video games with strong familiarity across PC, console, and mobile gaming platforms.
- Annotating gameplay videos, screenshots, and interactive game content.
- Identifying gameplay events, player actions, NPC behaviors, and game mechanics.
- Labeling visual objects, environments, UI elements, and game assets using annotation guidelines.
- Reviewing AI-generated annotations for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Following detailed annotation instructions while maintaining high productivity and quality.
- Familiarity with annotation platforms such as Labelbox, CVAT, SuperAnnotate, Label Studio, Scale AI, or similar tools is preferred.
- Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine is an advantage but not required.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and observational skills.
- Excellent written English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a Game Tester, QA Tester, Community Moderator, Esports Analyst, or AI Data Annotator.
- Familiarity with computer vision datasets, reinforcement learning, multimodal AI, or gaming AI evaluation projects.
- Experience with bug reporting tools such as Jira, TestRail, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Lua is a plus.
- Active gaming experience across multiple genres (FPS, RPG, MOBA, Strategy, Simulation, Sports, Open World, etc.) is highly desirable.
