Rasta is a strategy-led creative agency working with consumer brands across branding, campaigns, and content marketing. We create brand-first content for digital platforms, with a strong focus on Instagram and YouTube.
We are looking for a video editor who can help us turn ideas, scripts, shoots, interviews, product footage, creator footage, and raw brand assets into sharp, engaging videos that people actually watch.
Role Overview
We are looking for a video editor who understands how content works in 2026 — especially on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and YouTube.
This role is not just about cutting footage. It is about shaping stories, improving retention, creating scroll-stopping openings, using sound and rhythm well, adding captions and graphics, and adapting content to different platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit videos for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, YouTube long-form, brand films, launch videos, founder-led content, product content, and campaign assets.
- Turn raw footage into strong stories with clear structure, flow, and emotional impact.
- Create strong openings and hooks for short-form videos.
- Edit for retention, clarity, pace, and platform performance.
- Add captions, subtitles, supers, titles, lower thirds, basic motion graphics, transitions, sound effects, and music.
- Adapt one piece of footage into multiple formats such as 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, and 16:9.
- Repurpose long-form videos, interviews, podcasts, events, and shoots into short-form clips.
- Work with scripts, shot lists, references, brand guidelines, and creative briefs.
- Collaborate with creative directors, writers, designers, account managers, and social media teams.
- Suggest improvements to footage, scripts, structure, rhythm, and storytelling.
- Maintain organised project files, exports, backups, and versioning.
- Ensure final exports are platform-ready for Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Meta ads, and other digital channels when needed.
- Stay updated with editing styles, creator formats, social trends, platform behaviour, AI tools, and new content formats.
Core Skills Required
- Strong command over Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
- Working knowledge of intermediate After Effectsmotion graphics, kinetic typography, transitions, and visual polish.
- Good sense of visual storytelling, pacing, music, timing, and sound design.
- Good understanding of motion principles.
- Ability to edit both fast-paced social videos and slower, more polished brand videos.
- Strong understanding of Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and YouTube long-form content.
- Ability to create clean, readable, well-timed captions and on-screen text.
- Basic colour correction and audio cleanup skills.
- Ability to work with brand guidelines and maintain visual consistency.
- Ability to select the best moments from raw footage and build a compelling edit.
- Comfort with feedback, revisions, tight timelines, and multiple projects.
- Good file hygiene: naming, foldering, project organisation, version control, and export management.
- Basic VFX and compositing in After Effects (screen replacement, masking, tracking, clean overlays, simple integrations) Some of the work we do needs: phone screen replacements, cleanups (removing objects, stabilizing, patching etc.)
- Media handling / proxy workflow- a Basic understanding of proxy workflows for optimized editing when handling large media libraries efficiently for bigger projects and Multicam Editing.
- AI-assisted editing workflows- using AI tools for transcription-based editing.

- Awareness of safe zones, mobile-first framing, text placement, and sound-off viewing behaviour.
- Basic design sense using Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or Figma.
- Experience with YouTube thumbnails.
