About this role
Job Purpose/Background
Data Strategy & Solutions is looking for a dynamic individual to join their team. The primary job responsibilities include:
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable data pipelines for processing and analyzing unstructured data from diverse sources, including web scraping, PDF extraction, and text parsing working closely with Insights & Data Products function leads.
- Architect and build data pipelines for products based on Large Language Models (LLMs), leveraging advanced natural language processing (NLP) algorithms for investment research and alpha generation.
- Collaborate with internal data and software teams to blend the best of open-source, third-party, and internal architecture, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Manage stakeholders expectations, communicate technical concepts effectively, and align data engineering initiatives with business objectives.
- Define and lead the data engineering technology vision for the team, including the implementation of Gen AI techniques and setting best practices for data engineering and data science.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers and data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering and data science, and incorporate them into our technical roadmap.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of web scraping techniques, PDF parsing, and natural language processing (NLP) algorithms.
- Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer).
- Proven track record of stakeholder management, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and aligning technical initiatives with business objectives.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and drive innovation in data-driven products.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior talent, setting high standards for technical excellence and fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Desirable Skills
- Extensive experience as a Data Engineer, with a focus on designing and building data pipelines for both unstructured data and NLP or Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, with expertise in data processing technology stack (e.g. Postgres, Mongo DB, Redis, Vector DB , Big Query etc.) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Working knowledge of building and deploying distributed systems and scaling algorithms for ETL on structured and unstructured data
- Passion for engineering data centric performant systems with experience in Cloud Native platforms
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Curiosity to design, evaluate and implement data architecture for AI applications
