Position Overview:
We are looking for experienced Injection Tool Designers with strong expertise in plastic part design, injection mold design, and product engineering. The ideal candidates should be proficient in CATIA V5/V6, have deep understanding of DFM, DFA, DFMEA, and demonstrate hands-on experience in packaging study and mold feasibility analysis for plastic components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop 2D/3D injection molds, components, and complete tool assemblies using CATIA V5/V6.
- Conduct detailed DFM, DFA, and DFMEA studies to ensure manufacturability and reliability.
- Analyze product geometry for parting lines, draft angles, undercuts, wall thickness, and gate locations.
- Prepare complete mold layouts, core & cavity designs, cooling systems, ejector layouts, and BOMs.
- Perform mold feasibility and packaging studies for plastic parts to ensure dimensional integrity and assembly fit.
- Coordinate and conduct design reviews with international customers; implement design changes based on performance and cost targets.
- Maintain all design-related documentation including End of Arm Tooling (EOAT) studies, feasibility reports, and revision history.
- Support mold validation, tryout activities, and provide engineering solutions for process optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement in tool design methods, focusing on efficiency, tool life, and quality enhancement.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma / Degree in Tool & Die Making, Tool Design, or Mechanical Engineering (NTTF / IGTR / CIPET preferred).
- 5 to 15 years of proven experience in Injection Mold Design for plastic components.
- Expertise in CATIA V5/V6 (Part, Assembly, Surface, and Mold Tooling workbenches).
- Strong knowledge of plastic materials, mold construction, and injection molding processes.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, DFM, DFA, DFMEA, and Mold Flow Analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Capable of handling multiple international projects with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with North American / European mold design standards is an advantage.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to automotive, consumer goods, or industrial plastic product sectors.
- Experience in mold validation, vendor coordination, and project documentation.
- Knowledge of packaging design integration for export-oriented tooling programs.
