Job Description
EsyCommerce is seeking an efficient and experienced Technical Lead to own the technical execution of one or more cutting-edge web products, primarily within the WordPress ecosystem. You will champion the use of best practices including Agile methodologies, version control, and effective tool utilization. This role involves mentoring and empowering a talented engineering team, working closely with Product and Project Managers to plan, coordinate, and deliver solutions according to a high-level product roadmap. You will be responsible for planning and estimating development activities, tracking them to successful completion, and providing technical leadership in developing custom and often complex WordPress-based solutions alongside PHP framework based applications. This position also involves requirements gathering, web project planning, and addressing general technical inquiries, as well as driving innovation by finding and developing new technologies and methods to advance the company's web offerings.
Job Requirements
- Extensive expertise in creating and implementing custom WordPress themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks to meet complex functional and design requirements.
- Highly experienced in seamlessly connecting WordPress websites to a wide range of thirdparty services and applications through the effective utilization of RESTful APIs and various WordPress plugins.
- Possess strong front-end development skills, including solid and demonstrable experience with HTML5, CSS3, and key JavaScript libraries such as Bootstrap and jQuery, coupled with a thorough and in-depth understanding of CSS principles and best practices
- Very good understanding and practical experience with code versioning tools, specifically Git, for collaborative development and efficient change management, as well as proficiency in utilizing ticketing tools such as JIRA for effective task management, issue tracking, and project workflow.
- Should be able to independently deliver assigned complex modules and technical solutions with very little direct supervision or handholding required.

- Own the technical execution and delivery of one or more cutting-edge web products, primarily focused on WordPress.
- Champion the adoption and consistent use of best practices in software development, including Agile methodologies, robust version control systems (Git), and effective utilization of development tools (JIRA).
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to a talented engineering team, fostering their growth and bringing out their best performance.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Project Managers to effectively plan, coordinate, and deliver solutions in alignment with a high-level product roadmap and business objectives.
- Plan and accurately estimate development activities, break down complex tasks, and diligently track progress to ensure timely closure.
- Take responsibility for developing custom and often complex WordPress-based solutions, as well as solutions leveraging PHP frameworks, to meet specific project needs
- Participate in requirements gathering sessions, contribute to web project planning, and provide expert responses to general technical questions from both internal teams and clients.
- Provide strong technical leadership in identifying, evaluating, and developing new technologies and methodologies to continuously advance the company's web offerings and maintain a competitive edge.
- Manage and design the overall architecture of our web sites and Content Management System (CMS), ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Be ultimately responsible for the product quality and the timeliness of product delivery, ensuring adherence to deadlines and high standards.
- Actively review and contribute to the definition and continuous improvement of software development best practices and processes within the engineering team.
- Act as a strong supporter and representative of the company's goals and objectives in all technical endeavors.
- Lead the design and development of innovative and impactful new features for our web products.
- Thoroughly test user interfaces (UI) and effectively identify and resolve Cross-browser and Cross-device compatibility issues to provide a seamless user experience.
- Provide clear and concise weekly development tasks and milestones for team members, ensuring accountability and progress tracking.
- Consistently implement and enforce best practices and coding standards within the development team to maintain code quality and consistency.
Prefered Skills
- Possess a significant experience range of 9 to 13 years in building complex, high-traffic websites utilizing WordPress and custom PHP development.
- Must have at least 5 years of demonstrable experience in a leadership role, effectively leading and guiding software development teams to achieve project success.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members at all levels
- Exhibit flexibility, energy, and a proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others in a cross-functional environment.
- Should be proactive in learning and upskilling in new technologies, frameworks, and development methodologies relevant to web development and WordPress
