AWS Lead Data Engineer

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technology developer with experience in developing scalable applications and

platforms. They must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision. The person should be a

self-motivated person with a passion for problem solving and continuous learning.

Role and responsibilities

Collect requirements, design, develop and test software code.

Fix bugs and provide production support.

Prioritize across multiple tasks and manage time effectively.

Learn new technologies outside his/her primary skills.

Develop solutions to challenging problems.

Effectively communicate with team members, project managers and clients, as required.

Technical skills requirements

The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in,

Minimum 4 years experience with Python

Minimum 3 years experience with SQL

Minimum of 3 years experience working with AWS Cloud Data Platform

• Experience with the following AWS Services ECS, EKS, ECR, S3, EC2, VPC, Route 53, Lambda, API
• Gateway, AWS Glue, Event Bridge, Cloud Watch, IAM, RDS, Back up Services, Systems Manager.

2+ years of experience with Docker containers

Implementation and management of cloud infrastructure using IaC tools (Terraform scripting)

Participate in business process analysis, use case creation, and requirements definition.

Familiarity with writing GitLab CI/CD pipelines and creating deployment automations.

Responsible for designing, prototyping, developing and unit testing solutions for projects and

maintenance and enhancement releases.

Create and maintain technical specifications, system interface diagrams, unit testing scenarios and

system support documentation.

Follow best practices and standards to ensure technical compliance.

Adhere to high quality software development lifecycle (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).

Provide root cause analysis to resolve complex issues as part of support.

Work on multiple priorities at the same time and manage the work/time effectively.

Demonstrates accountability by contributing to the completion of assigned tasks.

Participate in projects as assigned.

Skills Experience in BioTech/Pharmaceutical industries desirable though not required

Excellent communication, presentation skills and people Interactions within their own team or

department at the operational level.

Experience with Lucid chart-like tools to diagram the designs

Work with AWS and Solution Architect's to get the designs approved before starting development.

Familiarity with database design concepts, API design concepts, intermediary SQL programing

Implementation of CI/CD pipeline experience as a good to have skills.

AWS Certification is a plus

Nice-to-have skills

Motivated self-starter team player who is organized and methodical

Good database skills in either DB2 or Oracle

Good data analysis and presentation skills

Performance tuning of queries and report calculations

Knowledge of best practice architectures: Periodic out of hours support is part of your responsibility,

particularly around software releases, major infrastructure changes and support calls
