Primary (recommended) job title: Technical Writer
Role & Responsibilities
- Author and maintain high-quality developer and end-user documentation: API reference, integration guides, SDK tutorials, release notes, and knowledge-base articles.
- Partner with product managers, engineers, QA, and support to collect technical details and translate complex topics into clear, accurate content.
- Create runnable code samples and step-by-step walkthroughs (Markdown + Git-managed repos) to accelerate developer onboarding and integration.
- Implement documentation structure, templates, and a consistent style guide to improve readability and reusability across channels (Confluence/Docs sites).
- Optimize documentation for discoverability using SEO best practices, metadata, and analytics-driven content improvements.
- Run peer reviews, maintain versioning and changelogs, and support localization handoffs and documentation QA.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- Proven technical writing experience producing developer-facing documentation (APIs, SDKs, integration guides).
- Strong hands-on experience with Markdown and Git for content versioning and sample repos.
- Working knowledge of Confluence or similar documentation platforms and structured docs workflows.
- Ability to write clear API reference and code examples (familiarity with REST APIs and JSON).
- Practical SEO/content discoverability skills for technical documentation and knowledge bases.
- Excellent editorial skills and attention to detail; ability to clarify ambiguous technical information.
Preferred
- Experience creating code samples in JavaScript or Python.
- Familiarity with content management systems (WordPress, static-site generators) or developer portals.
- Prior experience working on-site with cross-functional product and engineering teams.
