JOB DESCRIPTION

Technical Author / Technical Writer -Ships, Boats & Naval Vessels

  • Required Qualifications:

  • First Class BE/BTech/ME/MTech/MCA/MSc in Engineering or Science disciplines.
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in technical writing within government or private sector projects.
  • Essential: Certification in Technical Writing from a reputed institute.
  • Desirable: Diploma in Technical Writing from a reputed institute.

  • Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong domain knowledge of below engineering/scientific products.
  • Propulsion machinery
  • Radars and sensors
  • Navigation equipment
  • Communication equipment
  • RO (Reverse Osmosis) plants
  • Compressors
  • Cranes
  • Boats [HDPE Boats, Pontoon Boats, Fiber Reinforced Plastic Boat with Motor (RIBs)]
  • Pilotless Target Aircraft
  • Pumps
  • Dehumidifiers
  • In-depth understanding of product lifecycle and industry standards for naval vessels
  • Ability to interpret user requirements and translate them into clear documentation.
  • Proficiency in technical writing tools and software.
  • Basic graphic and web design skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills tailored for international audiences.

  • Tool Expertise:

  • Operating Systems: Windows, Linux/Unix, Ubuntu
  • Office Suites: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), OpenOffice, LibreOffice, LaTeX
  • Project Tools: MS Project or equivalent
  • Design Tools: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CorelDRAW
  • Other: APIs and related documentation tools

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain a wide range of technical documents for Ships, Boats and naval Vessels including:
  • System Engineering Management Plans
  • Project & Quality Management Plans
  • Data Management Plans
  • Certification & Conformance Documents
  • Software/Hardware Documentation
  • Configuration & Mission Documents
  • Reliability Analysis, Trial Plans, and Closure Reports
  • BOM, MSDS, QAP, ATP, QTP, Test Plans
  • Maintenance, Calibration, and Troubleshooting Manuals
  • Risk Management, Safety Assessments, Hazard Reports
  • Technology Transfer (ToT) and Policy Documents
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand product specifications and user requirements.
  • Ensure documentation meets international standards and is suitable for global clients.

Use appropriate tools and software to create structured, visually clear, and technically accurate documents.
