Cloud Transition Manager leads the end-to-end migration of IT infrastructure and applications to a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). They orchestrate the shift from on-premises systems or legacy providers to the cloud, ensuring minimal business disruption, knowledge transfer, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Transition Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive migration and service transition plans, ensuring cloud adoption aligns with business goals.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, cloud architects, vendors, and the delivery team.
- Risk & Issue Management: Anticipate migration bottlenecks (e.g., data security, downtime, legacy system dependencies), establish mitigation strategies, and manage issue resolution.
- Service Readiness & Hypercare: Define service acceptance criteria, ensure post-migration support (hypercare), and manage the smooth handover to Business-As-Usual (BAU) operations.
- Budget & Resource Management: Oversee transition costs, track milestone-based project plans, and manage cross-functional team allocations.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience: 5-10+ years in IT project management, specializing in infrastructure services, data center migrations, and cloud-first strategies.
- Methodologies: Proficiency in both Waterfall and Agile/Hybrid methodologies (experience with project tracking tools like JIRA and MS Project is highly valued).
- Frameworks: Deep understanding of Service Management principles.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional cross-cultural communication, negotiation, and change management abilities.
Preferred Certifications
- Project Management: Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2.
- Service Management: ITIL v4 Foundation or ITIL Expert.
