Team Lead – Revenue Accounting & Merchant Operation

About the Role

We are hiring a Team Lead to oversee our Revenue Accounting and Merchant Onboarding teams supporting fintech operations. This role is ideal for someone who has strong hands-on experience in payment operations, reconciliations, loan accounting, merchant onboarding, and fintech compliance, while also being able to guide and mentor a team.

You will act as the operational and accounting bridge between merchants, payment processors, internal finance, and compliance teams—ensuring accuracy, control, and audit readiness across all revenue and onboarding workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Process Ownership

• Lead a team handling revenue accounting, reconciliations, loan accounting, and merchant onboarding workflows.
• Own day-to-day operations, ensuring SLA adherence and timely resolution of issues.
• Review team outputs (recs, reports, onboarding configs) and ensure accuracy & audit readiness.
• Drive process improvements, automation opportunities, and risk controls.

Revenue Accounting & Reconciliations

• Oversee bank → processor → GL reconciliations for revenue, settlement, and remittance flows.
• Review loan accounting entries (principal, interest, fees, amortization) and ensure correct non-cash accounting logic.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal/external audits.

Merchant Onboarding & Configuration

• Supervise configuration of merchant accounts in payment processors and accounting systems.
• Ensure correct GL mapping, fee setup, settlement schedules, and test transactions before go-live.
• Resolve onboarding discrepancies and coordinate with Risk, Compliance, and Tech teams.

Regulatory & Compliance Support

• Oversee workflows related to SCRA, bankruptcies, chargebacks, and other regulatory items.
• Ensure team maintains complete, accurate onboarding and revenue audit trails.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
• 5–8 years of experience in revenue accounting, payment operations, merchant onboarding, or fintech accounting.
• Strong reconciliation skills with deep understanding of payment flows and accounting controls.
• Experience working with payment processors and accounting engines (Moov, Repay, etc. preferred).
• Advanced Excel skills; comfort with financial models and operational reporting.
• Working knowledge of loan lifecycle accounting and fintech compliance.
• Ability to manage teams, prioritize workflows, and handle escalations independently.

Preferred Experience

• Background in fintech, lending, merchant operations, or embedded finance.
• Prior experience setting up accounting workflows for payments or loan portfolios.
• Exposure to audit processes, compliance reviews, and documentation management.
