Job Description

  • Individual Counseling:
  • Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with students to address personal, academic, or behavioral concerns.
  • Provide support and guidance to students dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues.
  • Help students develop coping strategies and problem-solving skills.
  • Group Counseling:

  • Facilitate group counseling sessions to address common issues among students, such as peer pressure, conflict resolution, or social skills development.
  • Create and implement group activities and workshops aimed at enhancing students social and emotional well-being.
  • Academic Support:

  • Assist students in setting academic goals and developing study skills.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to help students improve their performance in school.
  • Collaborate with teachers to identify students who may need additional academic assistance or accommodations.
  • Crisis Intervention:

  • Respond promptly to crises or emergencies involving students, such as incidents of bullying, substance abuse, or self-harm.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
  • Coordinate with appropriate authorities and agencies, if necessary, to address serious concerns.
  • Parent and Teacher Collaboration:

  • Communicate regularly with parents to discuss students progress, concerns, and interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to develop strategies for supporting students academic and emotional needs.
  • Conduct workshops or training sessions for parents and teachers on topics related to student development and well-being.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions.
  • Prepare reports and documentation as required by school policies or regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards regarding student confidentiality and privacy.
  • Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • State licensure or certification as a school counselor (if applicable).
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents in a counseling or mental health setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to empathize with students and establish trusting relationships.
  • Knowledge of counseling techniques, theories, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in counseling.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate and confidential records.
  • Commitment to promoting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students.
