Role Description The Staff Nurse – CTICU is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit, including pre- and post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgical patients. This is a full-time, on-site role based at Sooriya Hospital in Nungambakkam, Chennai.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing qualification (B.Sc Nursing or GNM) and registration with the appropriate nursing council.
- Experience in ICU or CTICU settings, with strong skills in critical care nursing, monitoring, and patient assessment.
- Proficiency in handling ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and other critical care equipment.
- Strong medication administration skills, including knowledge of cardiac and critical care drugs and protocols.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, surgeons, anesthetists, and allied health professionals in a multidisciplinary team.
- Sound knowledge of infection control, patient safety practices, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, empathy, and the ability to provide patient and family education in a clear and reassuring manner.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required in a CTICU environment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliability in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery or cardiac care units is an advantage; relevant ICU certifications are beneficial.
