As a Staff Engineer - Backend, you will play a critical role in designing and building systems that can scale 10x-100x, while remaining deeply hands-on. You will drive technical excellence, influence architecture decisions, and partner closely with product and engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend systems to support rapid growth.
- Own key components/services end-to-end from design to production.
- Contribute to system design discussions and architecture decisions.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and drive scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to define technical direction.
- Write high-quality, maintainable, and production-grade code.
- Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering best practices.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through hands-on guidance.
- Work closely with product managers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Collaborate across teams to solve cross-cutting technical problems.
- Drive improvements in system reliability, observability, and performance.
- Take ownership of projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
- Build and scale high-throughput, distributed fintech systems.
- Contribute to architecture decisions for systems scaling 10x-100x.

Requirements
- 8-10 years of experience in backend or platform engineering.
- Strong computer science fundamentals.
- Proficiency in backend technologies (Node.js, Java, Go, or similar).
- Experience building and scaling distributed systems in a high-growth environment.
- Hands-on experience with high-traffic or transactional systems (fintech experience is a plus).
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and execution-focused mindset.
- Experience with microservices architecture and API design.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and infrastructure fundamentals.
- Familiarity with system design principles (scalability, fault tolerance, caching, etc. )
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and work in fast-paced environments.
Good To Have
- Experience with lending/fintech ecosystems.
- Exposure to platform engineering (developer tooling, shared services, internal platforms).
