Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Accountant with strong expertise in India statutory accounting. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in India GAAP, GST, and TDS compliance, coupled with excellent systems knowledge and hands-on experience managing end-to-end accounting processes. This role will be instrumental in ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, and process optimization within a dynamic, high-growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Close

  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules.
  • Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and roll-forward schedules.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions, expense allocations, and payroll-related accounting inputs.

Statutory Compliance

  • Manage statutory requirements for India, including GST, TDS, income tax, and CSR obligations.
  • Support preparation and review of statutory filings, ensuring compliance with India GAAP and regulatory guidelines.
  • Respond to government and tax authority notices as needed.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly financial consolidations, cash forecasts, and actual vs. budget variance reports.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data across systems.
  • Provide insights to management for decision-making and continuous improvement.

Audit & Process Improvement

  • Support internal and external audit processes through documentation, reconciliations, and data validation.
  • Identify and drive process improvements across accounting, payroll, and reporting workflows.
  • Recommend system enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Cross-Functional Projects

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on ad-hoc financial projects, process automation, and system integration initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in corporate accounting, with deep knowledge of India GAAP, GST, and TDS.
  • Proven experience in statutory filings, reconciliations, and responding to government notices.
  • ERP experience required (NetSuite preferred); familiarity with Coupa is an advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivots, lookups, etc.); SQL exposure preferred.
  • Experience with payroll inputs, G/L month-end close, and financial consolidations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with CSR calculations, transfer pricing, and audit support preferred.
