Sr. Design Engineer - Switchgears

Key Responsibilities:

Switchgear Design & Development

• Lead detailed design and development of switchgear assemblies such as MCCs, control panels, motor starters, distribution boards, and protection systems.
• Prepare and review design documents, single line diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Select appropriate components (circuit breakers, relays, contactors, busbars, etc.) ensuring compliance with standards like IEC, ANSI, IS.

Technical Analysis & Validation

• Perform electrical calculations (short circuit, voltage drop, thermal rating) to validate design safety and performance.
• Support prototype testing, fault analysis, and design optimization.
• Work with QA to ensure design compliance with product certifications and quality standards.
• Collaboration & Documentation
• Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing, and project teams to resolve design-related issues.
• Provide technical support for customer queries and project execution.
• Maintain design records, BOMs, and version control for all projects.

Mentoring & Process Improvement

• Mentor junior design engineers and CAD technicians.
• Suggest and implement design process improvements and automation.
• Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Certifications in electrical design or project management are a plus

Experience:

• 612 years in design and development of electrical switchgear or panel boards
• Hands-on experience with CAD tools like AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar

Key Skills:

• Strong knowledge of electrical switchgear components, standards (IEC, ANSI, IS)
• Proficiency in electrical design software and MS Office
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
• Good communication and team collaboration skills
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
