Job Description : Senior Data Engineer
Location: WFH/Remote
Experience:5 years+
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Experience building production data pipelines, ELT/ETL solutions, data lakes, and data warehouses at a large scale
- Extracts data from identified databases. Creates data pipelines and transforms data to a structure that is relevant to the problem by selecting appropriate techniques. Develops knowledge of current data science and analytics trends.
- Data Source Identification: Supports the understanding of the priority order of requirements and service level agreements. Helps identify the most suitable source for data that is fit for purpose. Performs initial data quality checks on extracted data.
- Basic concepts of Data Modeling: Analyzes complex data elements, systems, data flows, dependencies, and relationships to contribute to conceptual, physical, and logical data models.
- Solid expertise in data extraction from different sources
- Responsible for design, development, testing oversight and production implementation using API, Python, SQL & cloud.
- Understanding of how data sets can power a variety of analytic use cases (clustering, segmentation, regression, etc.)
- Ensure alignment to coding standard methodologies and development of reusable code
- Work with Data Scientists and Data Analysts to understand business processes and identify opportunities to build scalable and efficient data models that can be used for scalable, refreshable analysis and reporting
- Create and enable the generation of ad-hoc / on-demand data sets for use by analysts and data scientists
- Work with Engineering teams to set up monitoring and alerting systems for business and product KPIs
- BE/ME/Btech/Mtech in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 4+ years working with Analytics and Data Engineering teams with a mixed data engineering and analytics background
- 4+ years of experience in scalable data architecture, fault-tolerant ETL, and monitoring of data quality in the cloud
- Programming proficiency in cloud data ecosystem using Python
- Highly proficient in engineering data pipelines using big data tooling (Spark, Hudi, Kafka)
- Highly proficient working in AWS cloud environment (S3, Cloud Formation, RDS, AWS Glue, Athena, EMR, Kinesis, Redshift)
- Experience working on or leading initiatives around data governance, master data management, data catalogs, and enterprise data warehouse architecture
- Strong analytical skills, data sensibility, and an able communicator
- Experience in Retail, Travel domains preferred
- Proficiency in:
- Complex SQL
- Basics of Dimensional Modeling
- Data pipeline development, workflow management, and orchestration tools
- ETL optimization and best practices
- Knowledge of snowflake or other column-oriented and cloud-based databases
