Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer 3 with 6–9 years of experience in software development, with strong expertise in backend development and website/web application development. The ideal candidate should have solid hands-on experience in C++, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), STL, UNIX/Linux environments, debugging, scripting, and software development lifecycle practices. The candidate will be responsible for analysing requirements, designing technical solutions, developing and testing high-quality software, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Common Accountabilities

 Demonstrate advanced and specialized technical/functional knowledge in the relevant discipline and understand how the area contributes to the business.

Act as a technical reference for less experienced colleagues and provide guidance and support to junior team members.

Influence decisions related to own activities by anticipating dependencies and consequences in complex scenarios.

Contribute to transversal/cross-functional projects and propose improvements to processes and engineering practices.

Take accountability for individual and team commitments and deliverables.

Work independently within the plan defined by the manager, seeking guidance for the most complex situations when required.Collaborate effectively as a team player in a fast-paced software engineering environment.

Have good hands-on experience working in an Agile/Scrum setup.

Specific Accountabilities

1. Analyse Specifications

• Analyse functional and technical specifications and translate business needs into clear software requirements. •

Define and clarify user requirements for the development of new software solutions or upgrades to existing applications.

2. Design Systems and Develop Code

• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in C++, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), and STL.

• Strong backend development experience is mandatory, including designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining backend services and APIs.

• Website/Web Application Development experience is mandatory, with the ability to collaborate on or develop robust, scalable, and user-facing web solutions.

• Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills using tools such as GDB, Valgrind, and similar debugging/profiling tools.

• Good knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems and scripting using Shell scripts and Python.

• Knowledge of CI/CD, Git, branching strategies, code review practices, and SDLC best practices to support high-frequency software delivery is preferred.

• Design technical solutions and perform feasibility studies for complex requirements.

• Propose viable technical solutions to Product Management, Product Definition, users, and other stakeholders for validation.

• Develop software in accordance with defined engineering standards, coding guidelines, architecture principles, and quality processes.

• Exposure to modelling, designing, and implementing databases.

• Exposure to cloud technologies is preferable.

• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with business and technical requirements.

3. Test and Maintain the Software

• Conduct unit, package, integration, and performance testing to ensure software quality and reliability.

• Ensure the delivered software meets defined engineering and quality guidelines.

• Participate in the validation phase of the product lifecycle and fine-tune solutions where necessary to finalize the product.

• Debug and resolve issues in existing solutions in collaboration with Product Managers, Product Definition Analysts, and relevant stakeholders.

• Support production issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.

4. Document Your Work

• Prepare and maintain software documentation required for applications, technical solutions, development activities, and support.

• Document technical designs, implementation details, troubleshooting procedures, and relevant engineering decisions.

• Ensure documentation is shared with the appropriate requesting and stakeholder departments.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• 6–9 years of relevant software development experience.

• Strong hands-on experience in C++.

• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and STL.

• Strong backend development experience – mandatory.

• Website/Web Application Development experience – mandatory.

• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills using GDB, Valgrind, or equivalent tools.

• Good experience with UNIX/Linux environments.
