Job Description

JD u2013 Analytics Senior Software Engineer

Experience & Expectations :

  • Leverage extensive experience (5 to 8 years overall Analytics experience).
  • We are seeking a hands-on Analytics Senior Engineer to bridge the gap between Data Engineering and Business Analytics within the Alight ecosystem. The role focuses on designing robust analytics datasets, mentoring junior engineers, and driving BI solutions with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and governance
  • The ideal candidate will work closely with Data Engineers, BI teams, and Product stakeholders to build robust semantic models, and support enterprise analytics platforms.

1. Data Modelling

  • Design enterprise-grade data models
  • Own semantic layer architecture
  • Standardize KPIs and business metrics
  • Ensure consistency, reusability, and scalability of data models

2. Analytics Engineering

  • Work alongside Data Engineers to understand the ETL/ELT pipelines

3. BI & Reporting Enablement

  • Build and optimize complex reports & dashboards
  • Define data model strategies
  • Handle large-scale analytical workloads
  • Design and optimize datasets for BI tools (AWS QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Partner with BI developers to build dashboards, KPIs, and analytical reports
  • Support ad-hoc analytics and business use cases

4. Data Quality, Governance & Security

  • Implement advanced RLS/CLS models
  • Define best practices for BI and data usage

5. Performance Optimization

  • Tune complex SQL transformations
  • Minimize dashboard latency and cost
  • Ensure efficient handling of large datasets across distributed systems

6. Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Review code, models, and dashboards

Technical Skills (Alight Ecosystem Focus)

  • Expert SQL (Redshift or similar MPP systems)
  • Visualization Tools u2013 QuickSight, Tableau, Power BI
  • Database u2013 Redshift, DynamoDB
  • Strong AWS data ecosystem knowledge
  • Data modelling expertise

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills

  • AWS Certification (Cloud Practitioner / Associate)

Qualifications

  • Bacheloru2019s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Soft Skills

  • Ability to translate business requirements into data solutions
  • Strong collaboration across distributed teams (onshore/offshore)
  • Ownership mindset with focus on delivery quality
