Position: Senior Software Engineer, Team Lead

Reports To: Director of Engineering

Location: Hyderabad, India

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer, Team Lead to guide a team of backend engineers in building innovative software for litigation professionals. Our products enable users to filter millions of documents down to those most relevant to their cases, leveraging advanced techniques in data visualization, artificial intelligence, and large-scale data processing.

In this role, you will balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities, providing technical direction, mentoring team members, and ensuring delivery of high-quality, scalable, and user-friendly applications. You will have a strong voice in shaping product architecture, development of best practices, and the professional growth of your team.

Our backend technical stack centers on C#, REST, SQL, Postgres, and Elasticsearch. While deep expertise in these technologies is important, we also value adaptability, curiosity, and the ability to help the team learn and evolve. We want leaders who can inspire engineers to deliver thoughtfully designed, modern, and performant solutions.

From your seat in our beautiful new office in Hyderabad, India you will have access to many teammates to help respond to clients timely. Please be aware that this is a hybrid role (3 days in office, 2 days work from home).

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Build, lead, manage, and mentor a team of engineers while building a team culture of quality, innovation, efficiency, initiative, trust and transparency
  • Managing and guiding sprint teams
  • Unblocking team from technical/functional challenges
  • Collaborating with different internal teams
  • Analyzing system requirements and delegating development tasks.
  • Organize and prioritize team workload, ensuring timely delivery of features and fixes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to align development efforts with product goals.
  • Partner with Engineering leaders globally to drive solutions implementation and processes
  • Instill a culture of personal accountability through:

  • Clear metrics for success, commitment to transparent goals and KPIs
  • Proactive partnership with team leads and stakeholders globally
  • Proactively drive collaboration across functions and geographies, to ensure a cohesive environment for the team and business

  • Technical Ownership
  • Collaborate with leadership to define and uphold best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and make decisions that impact scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Lead design and implementation of new features and enhancements.
  • Investigate and develop skills in new technologies.
  • Developing technical specifications and implementation of various design patterns.
  • Hands-On Development
  • Write, review, and maintain C# codebases, design & implement RESTful APIs
  • Develop and review designs, code, unit tests, system tests, and documentation.
  • Collaborate in root cause analysis; diagnose, isolate, and fix software problems.
  • Identify and correct issues that impact performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Drive adoption of modern tooling and frameworks to improve developer productivity.
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts and project status to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative team culture.

Characteristics

  • Deep expertise in C# and RESTful APIs and modern backend development practices.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, motivate, and organize a small engineering team.
  • Thorough knowledge of the software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, CI/CD, and code quality practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A passion for building intuitive, user-centric applications and driving technical excellence.
  • Ability to balance hands-on development with broader team leadership responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of C#, SQL, and RESTful API integration preferred.
  • Knowledge of Elasticsearch, Postgres, AWS, Kubernetes and On-Prem Deployments is highly desirable.
  • An eagerness to learn, explore and introduce new technologies.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years work experience in back-end software engineering with considerable experience programming in C#.
  • 3+ years of direct people management experience in technical teams, including hiring, mentoring and leading technical leaders
  • Proven track record of delivering scalable, maintainable SaaS and/or on-premises applications.
  • Experience creating and consuming RESTful interfaces.

The total compensation (CTC) offered to employees comprises two key components, a fixed component, and a performance-based variable bonus.

  • The fixed component represents the guaranteed portion of an employee's compensation. It includes base salary and other fixed allowances as applicable.
  • A performance-based variable bonus is an integral part of the overall compensation and is directly linked to both individual performance and overall company performance, as defined under the company's policy.

For roles reporting to a manager based in Illinois, the budgeted annual salary range is $35,000 to $49,000. This role includes a variable compensation component up to 10% of base salary. Compensation for this role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
