Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with deep, hands-on expertise across both frontend and backend to join the team building Honda's core digital platforms, including the MyHonda App, Honda Connect App, and other customer-facing web and mobile products.

This is a pure engineering role for someone who loves getting into the code, solving hard technical problems, and taking full ownership of what they build, from design through deployment and beyond. You will work across the full stack, collaborating closely with product, design, QA, and platform teams to deliver reliable, high-performance digital experiences to millions of Honda customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build robust, scalable features across frontend (web and mobile) and backend services
• Own the full development lifecycle: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
• Write clean, well-structured, thoroughly tested code and set a high technical bar through code reviews and engineering standards
• Architect APIs, services, and data flows that are reliable, secure, and built to scale
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, system vulnerabilities, and technical debt across the stack
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and DevOps to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
• Contribute to technical design discussions, sprint planning, and architecture reviews
• Continuously evaluate and advocate for better tools, patterns, and engineering practices

Qualifications

Required

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong full stack ownership
• Deep proficiency in frontend development: React.js or equivalent modern frameworks, experience with React Native for mobile a strong plus
• Strong backend engineering skills: Node.js, Java, Python, or equivalent; able to design and build APIs, microservices, and data pipelines
• Solid understanding of system design, data structures, algorithms, and software architecture principles
• Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and third-party service integrations
• Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or equivalent)
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and agile delivery
• A track record of shipping and owning complex features in high-traffic production environments

Preferred

• Experience building consumer-grade mobile apps (React Native, Swift, or Kotlin) at scale
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Exposure to connected vehicle platforms, telematics, or IoT ecosystems
• Experience with observability tools: logging, monitoring, alerting, and crash analytics (Firebase, Datadog, Sentry, or equivalent)
• Background in mobility, automotive, fintech, or high-scale B2C product environments
