Job Description

Senior Mechanical Engineer Battery Energy Storage Systems

Experience: 812 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 6 years, or PhD with 3 years of related experience.

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Mandatory Skills

Mechanical design expertise

Proficiency in CAD and finite element analysis (FEA)

Experience designing air and liquid cooling systems

Battery and energy management systems knowledge

Hands-on experience with CREO

Competence in MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook

Working knowledge of Solid works and AutoCAD

Structural FEA analysis skills

Preferred Skills

Seismic analysis experience

Understanding of ASCE 7-16 requirements

Knowledge of IEEE693 standards

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead mechanical engineering and product development initiatives for power conversion and renewable energy projects, especially battery energy management systems.

Resolve site issues, conduct root cause analysis, and provide solutions for project-specific challenges during installation and commissioning.

Interface directly with customers to address concerns raised at project sites.

Demonstrate advanced skills in sheet metal and solid model design software (preferably including CREO), including performing structural FEA analyses.

Drive process optimization, quality assurance, and cross-functional coordination in shelter and container manufacturing.

Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with team members.

Exhibit strong business judgment and clear written and oral communication skills for internal and external audiences.

Show initiative, creativity, and ownership on challenging projects, contributing key solutions.

Demonstrate willingness to learn new skills, business applications, and equipment platforms.

Travel up to 40%, including international assignments; flexibility to work across various time zones.

Preferred Knowledge

Mechanical design of electrical power equipment, such as panels, power converters, or control panels.

Design of air and liquid cooling systems, including fan and pump sizing, CFD analysis, pressure drop calculations, and component selection.

Seismic analysis and familiarity with IEEE693 and/or ASCE 7-16 standards.

Experience with utility-scale battery energy storage systems.

Bonus: Prior knowledge of Fluence product offerings and alignment with Fluence values (Leading, Agile, Responsible).
