Job Title: Design Engineer Solar (Mechanical)Location: Chennai / Ahmedabad
Experience: 8 to 10 Years
Job Summary:We are looking for an experienced Solar Mechanical Design Engineer with strong exposure to Utility-Scale Solar PV Projects. The ideal candidate must have worked on at least one single project of 40 MW or above. Candidates who have only rooftop experience may not be suitable for large-scale project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead mechanical design, engineering, and layout development for Utility-Scale Solar Projects (40 MW+).
- Design and review module mounting structures (MMS) fixed tilt & tracking systems.
- Perform structural analysis, wind load calculations, and stability checks as per IS/IEC standards.
- Review geotechnical reports and provide engineering recommendations for foundations and civil interfaces.
- Prepare GA drawings, fabrication drawings, bill of materials (BOM) for structure design.
- Coordinate with electrical, civil, procurement, and project execution teams for seamless design integration.
- Conduct shading analysis, land optimisation, and layout planning in coordination with the design team.
- Evaluate structure vendors, verify technical compliance, and review their design submissions.
- Ensure adherence to national and international codes (IS 800, IS 875, IS 1893, IEC standards, etc.).
- Support site teams during installation, testing, commissioning, and solve design-related issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BE / B.Tech).
- 810 years of relevant experience in solar mechanical design for Utility-Scale projects.
- Must have worked on at least one Utility-Scale Solar project of 40 MW or more.
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD / SolidWorks
- STAAD Pro or similar structural analysis software
- MS Office
- Strong understanding of MMS design, structural mechanics, and industry standards.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
Preferred:- Experience with tracking systems (single-axis trackers).
- Knowledge of BESS-integrated solar projects.
- Experience in optimizing layout based on land contours, GCR, and shading.
